Whenever I think about Uiwang, South Korea the only thing I can think of is that it’s between Suwon and Anyang, however the hidden gem of Uiwang is the peaceful Baegun lake. Located to the North West of Uiwang the main downside is that it pretty tricky to access without driving or taking a taxi (₩3000 from near Lotte Mart in northern Uiwang), but I think that’s possibly part of its charm. That aren’t hundreds of people dressed in there hiking outfits or school kids running around on a field trip it’s only populated by the people who live there and a small amount of people visiting the restaurants and small farm stalls.
The lake itself is not majorly impressive however it’s a nice and peaceful walk and at this time of year with the leaves changing color and the current balmy weather it’s a nice place to escape for a few hours. The surrounding restaurants are all generally well-priced and there are many different options, including a number serving the infamous Boshintang (보신탕 or Dog Meat Soup), which shows how rural the area is. You can also rent cute little row boats or go fishing however I don’t know if there are any fish in there.

In my opinion if you live in Uiwang or Western Anyang it’s worthwhile checking out if you have a spare few hours one weekend but it’s not really worth traveling to far to see.
