K League Classic 2013 Round 7

As the K League Classic season has now settled down and everyone has had a chance to show their hands, we are need able and confident about sharing our thought and feelings about the up coming fixtures.

This week we have the first midweek games of the year which is also round 7. It includes 2 Tuesday and 4 Wednesday games (fixtures listed above). Here is a brief preview of each plus our prediction:

K League Classic Round 7:

Gangwon vs. Pohang Steelers (Tuesday 7pm)

2nd placed and undefeated Pohang travel to bottom of the table Gangwon in the first of Tuesdays games. Gangwons home record this season is pretty good with 2 draws from 2 games however 2012 FA Cup winners Pohang should have the strength to get the win.

Prediction: 0 – 2

Incheon United vs. Chunnam Dragons (Tuesday 7.30pm)

4th placed Incheon host 9th placed Chunnam in the second of Tuesdays games. Chunnam won for the first time on Saturday at home vs. Daejeon 3-1, whilst Incheon won by the same scoreline away against Daegu. Incheon haven’t won either of their home games this season however we feel they will just edge it.

Prediction: 1 – 0

Jeonbuk vs. Daegu (Wednesday 7pm)

14th placed Daegu come into this game still looking to gain their first win of 2013, whilst Jeonbuk are currently in 6th with 3 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses from their first 6 games of the season. We honestly think Daegu will have to wait until this weekend for their first win of the season as Jeonbuk even on an average day are very strong.

Prediction: 3 – 1

Busan I’Park vs. Suwon Bluewings (Wednesday 7.30pm)

Current league leaders Suwon make the huge midweek trip down to visit mid table Busan in one of Wednesdays late games. Busan have blown hot and cold so far this season but their home record is very strong 2 wins and a draw from 3. Suwon grabbed a late draw in the Super Match on Sunday vs. FC Seoul but looked good. We feel this game will end in a draw.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Daejeon vs. Ulsan  (Wednesday 7.30pm)

5th placed Ulsan travel to 11th Daejeon later on Wednesday evening. Daejeon slipped to a heavy away defeat this weekend at Chuunam whilst Ulsan played out a goalless draw at home against Busan. The overall power of Ulsan should be enough to break down Daejeon but the winner may come late.

Prediction: 0 – 1

Seongnam vs. FC Seoul (Wednesday 7.30pm)

Seongnam jumped from the foot of the K League to 10th on Sunday thanks to an excellent win over Jeonbuk. Whilst reigning champions FC Seoul are surprisingly in 12th still winless after 6 games. The main issue for FC Seoul has been their woeful defensive record, 11 goals conceded in 6 games, if they fixed this issue they would soon be back near the top. This game will be close and we’re sitting on the fence a little and predicting a draw.

Prediction: 2 – 2

*Also Jeju United vs. Gyeongnam, was moved earlier in the season from Tuesday April 16th to Wednesday May 1st*

This win puts Pohang top of the league, they are also the leagues top goalscorers with 14 goals. Defeat leaves Gangwon rock bottom and their hard season looks like it may continue quite a long time.

Incheon United 0 – 0 Chunnam Dragons

Chunnams improved form continues as Incheon slump to another disappointing home result. Incheon are currently 5th, whilst Chunnam have moved up slightly into 10th.

Wednesday April 17th:

Jeonbuk Motors 2 – 0 Daegu

Jeonbuk make it 3 wins from 4 at home so far this season with an good win over struggling Daegu. Daegu stay 13th whilst Jeonbuk move up to 3rd.

Busan I’Park 2 – 1 Suwon Bluewings
