In Korea Buddha’s Birthday is celebrated on the on the 8th day of 4th lunar month, this year that day is a Friday (May 17th). So Today is “the day of Buddha’s birth”, and many temples provide free meals and tea to all visitors. It’s also an important day for the 23% of South Koreans who are practicing Buddhists.
Generally on Buddha’s Birthday schools, university’s and other public institutions are closed ago with most businesses. Stores and Shops are often open but for limited hours. However Museums, Theme Parks and other attractions are open but will be busy. Also any baseball games will only have limited ticket availability. Also Buses, Trains and Highways will be very busy Friday & Sunday and tickets will be very limited.
