This weekend is round 12 of the Korean K League Classic 2013 . This weekend there are just 5 games instead of the normal 7 because both FC Seoul and Jeonbuk played in the AFC Champions League during the week and their games have been moved to the start of June. Therefore there are just 2 games being played on Saturday and 3 games on Sunday (fixtures listed above). Also this weekend is a Buddha’s Birthday 3 day weekend. Here is a brief preview of each game plus our prediction:
K League Classic Round 12:
Pohang Steelers vs. Ulsan (Saturday 2pm)
Top of the league Pohang once again play early on Saturday and this time host Ulsan who make the short down to the league leaders. Ulsan’s recent form has been unpredictable with W2 D2 L2, whilst Pohang have done a little better with W3 D3 L0 and are still undefeated this season. Therefore we’re going with the form book and siding with Pohang.
Prediction: 2 – 1
Suwon Bluewings vs. Jeju United (Saturday 2pm)
The 2nd of Saturdays 2pm kick offs pits 2nd placed Jeju United against 3rd placed Suwon Bluewings in a top of the table clash. Suwon are looking to improve after losing to Ulsan last week whilst Jeju gained a lucky point away vs. Incheon. However Suwon have a strong home record whilst the long trip don’t suit Jeju and therefore we’re siding with Suwon.
Prediction: 2 – 0
Incheon United vs. Gangwon (Sunday 2pm)
The first of Sundays games seeing 6th placed Incheon host 12th placed Gangwon. Don’t let their league places fool you as over the last 4 games they both have the same form W1 D2 L1. Still even with improved recent form Incheon should have enough to prevail this week.
Prediction: 3 – 1
Daegu vs. Daejeon Citizen (Sunday 2.30pm)
Sundays 2nd game is an early season 6 pointer as bottom club Daegu hosted 13th (2nd bottom) Daejeon. Daegu are still looking for their first win this season and can’t afford to drop points against their nearest rival even at this stage of the season. This game really could go either way however where going to side with Daegu.
Prediction: 1 – 0
Seongnam vs. Gyeongnam (Sunday 4pm)
This weekends final game is an important game is the race for a top half finish. Hosts Seongnam have been on pretty awful form in the last few weeks losing their last 2 and only just winning their FA Cup game vs. University opposition. Gyeongnam on the other hand improved last weekend at least with a win over bottom club Daegu. However we feel that this game will end in a draw.
Prediction: 1 – 1
