KPOP Song of the Week – “I Love You” by Akdong Musician

For this weeks Modern Seoul KPOP Song of the Week we’ve chosen “I Love You” (와일드) by Akdong Musician (악동뮤지션). It was released on Wednesday May 8th and has amassed just over 275,000 views on Youtube. Here are our reasons for choosing “I Love You” for our song of the week:

Firstly the song is cute and sweet and doesn’t overpower you with crazy dance tunes.
Secondly the video is simple and tells a nice little story which isn’t serious and seems like just a little fun.
Finally Akdong Musician have stayed true to their roots with this release, focusing on their talents and not becoming remodeled.
On the negative side; it’s a little boring and won’t maybe stand the test of time (sadly).

Basic Background: Akdong Musician are a family duo made up of brother Lee Chan-hyuk (17) and sister Lee Soo-hyun (14). They come to fame last year when they won the music competition K-pop Star 2. Just last week they signed an exculsive contract with YG Entertainment (More info here).
