KPOP Song of the Week – “On and On” by Boyfriend

For this weeks Modern Seoul KPOP Song of the Week we’ve chosen “On and On” (온앤온) by Boyfriend (보이프렌드). It was released this Monday May 27th and has amassed just over 250,000 views so far on Youtube. Here are our reasons for choosing “On and On” for our song of the week:

Firstly the song is catchy and cute, matching the bands image well.
Secondly the video fun with a little extra fun. It may not win any Oscars but it matches the song well.
Finally Boyfriend have stayed with the cute boy next door image, rather than going in a more mature B.A.P type direction.
On the negative side; there is no story to speak of it’s more like an advertisement for the Japan City they are in (I’m not sure where it is though).

More Information on Boyfriend

Basic Background: Boyfriend launched in May 2011 (2 years ago) and are made up of 6 members ranging in age from 24 down to 17. The group also includes a set of twins 18 year olds Kwangmin and Youngmin. They’ve enjoyed a good amount of success since their debut and have proved very popular not only in Korea but around the world (mainly Japan where this video was filmed).
