For this weeks Modern Seoul KPOP Song of the Week we’ve chosen “First Love” (첫사랑) by After School (애프터스쿨). It was released back on June 12th and has already amassed a little over 800,000 views so far on Youtube. Here are our reasons for choosing “First Love” for our song of the week:
- Firstly the song has a nice slow tempo and cool funky beat which is nice.
- Secondly the video is sexy and blends well with the song.
- Finally After School has continued along the more mature and grown up style which they displayed firstly with their song Flashback.
- On the negative side; sexy KPOP videos are not a new thing however pole dancing is maybe taking it a little far. A friend of mine said that it reminded them of the Triangle Club in GTA4.
More Information on After School
After School is currently made up of 8 members ranging in age from 18 to 29. They launched back in 2009 and have developed a strong following and as a group there image as also matured over the past 4 years.
