We are now into Round 15 of the K League Classic and the 2nd week back after the international break. 3 of the games are being played on Saturday and the other 4 are on Sunday (fixtures listed above). Also all of the games are now late afternoon or early evening as the weather is now too hot to play games during the day.
Here is a brief preview of each game plus our prediction, we’ve also included the result from the previous game between the two sides:
K League Classic Round 15:
Incheon United vs. Pohang Steelers (Saturday 5pm)
3rd Placed Incheon host top of the league Pohang in one of the standout games (on paper) of the weekend. Incheon however had an awful start to this the second half of the regular season losing 4-1 on Wednesday evening, which was their biggest defeat in over 2 years. This is the first game since the break for Pohang so it will be interesting to see if they’re ring rusty. We feel this will end in a draw.
Previous Meeting: Pohang 1 – 1 Incheon
Prediction: 1 – 1
Busan I’Park vs. Daegu (Saturday 7pm)
Daegu shocked many people last week winning for the first time this season vs. 2nd placed Ulsan and scoring 5 goals. Busan on the other hand suffered defeat vs. FC Seoul. Overall Busan on paper should win this having Daegu will be full of confidence so it’s a hard one to call. We’re going to pick Busan to win but narrowly.
Previous Meeting: Daegu 0 – 1 Busan
Prediction: 2 – 1
Seongnam vs. Jeju United (Saturday 7pm)
Seongnam scored an impressive away win over high flying Incheon United midweek, whilst this is the first game for Jeju since the international break. The first time these sides met season it ended in a draw and we feel the same will most likely happen again.
Previous Meeting: Jeju United 1 – 1 Seongnam
Prediction: 1 – 1
Ulsan Hyundai vs. FC Seoul (Sunday 5pm)
Sundays final game is between 10th placed Chunnam and 12th placed Gangwon. Chunnam’s 1st half of the regular season was basically a tale of strong defense and weak attack. Gangwon on the other hand had one of the worst defensive records in the league. We’re going to predict a home win but it will be close.
Previous Meeting: Gangwon 1 – 1 Chunnam
Prediction: 1 – 0
Gangwon vs. Suwon Bluewings (Sunday 7pm)
Suwon Bluewings returned to winning ways thanks to winning a classic vs. Ulsan 5-4 on Wednesday. Gangwon on the other hand played out a boring 0-0 with Chunnam and are currently only 1 point above the relegation places. Suwon should have the power even away from home to take all 3 points.
Previous Meeting: Suwon 1 – 0 Gangwon
Prediction: 0 – 2
Daejeon Citizen vs. Chunnam Dragons (Sunday 7pm)
Daejeon had a week to forget after being hammered 6-0 vs. Gyeongnam last weekend, their biggest defeat since losing 7-1 also vs. Gyeongnam in 2011 and 7-0 vs. Pohang also in 2011. Chunnam on the other hand played out a boring scoreless draw with Gangwon. Daejeon will hopefully improve a little this week and we feel that should be enough to grab a point at worst.
Previous Meeting: Chunnam 3 – 1 Daejeon
Prediction: 1 – 1
Jeonbuk Motors vs. Gyeongnam (Sunday 7pm)
Gyeongnam will be coming into this game full of confidence after putting six past Daejeon last weekend. On the other hand Jeonbuk gave away the lead vs. Suwon during the weekend multiple times and in the end lost the game 5-4. We feel however that Jeonbuk should have enough to win this one.
Previous Meeting: Gyeongnam 1 – 1 Jeonbuk Motors
Prediction: 2 – 1
