Hello and Welcome to this weeks Modern Seoul KPOP Song of the Week. This week we’ve chosen the interestingly titled “Mamama” (마마마) by Tasty (테이스티). It was released this past Wednesday (which these days seems to be new video release day) August 7th and has around 175,000 views so far on YouTube. Here are our reasons for choosing “Mamama” for our KPOP song of the week:
- Firstly the song is catchy, fun and has a nice beat.
- Secondly the video doesn’t tell much of a story but is fun and features strong dancing, expensive cars and a pretty girl. What’s not to like? 🙂
- Finally Tasty seem to grown as artists in the last year and have done well to make the 2nd mini-album stage (many bands are cut at this stage).
- On the negative side; it is a little samey. It looks like a number of other KPOP Videos and is missing a little USP.

Tasty, are pretty new to the KPOP sense as they were only announced within the past 12 months (previously they were backing dancers). Tasty consists of identical twins, DaeRyong/Big D and SoRyong/Lil D both 25. They are Chinese-Korean. This is their second release, they released Spectrum last year.
