K League Classic 2013 Round 24

The K League Classic now moves into round 24 of the regular season and with only 3 games now until the split (including this week), so every game is must win. This weekends Fixtures are listed above.

Because there isn’t long until the end of the regular season and the split we thought that it would be useful to make a current league table. The current points are in brackets:

K League Classic 2013 Table August 24th

Here are our brief previews of each game as well as predictions for this K League Classic Round 24:

K League Classic Round 24:

Daejeon Citizen vs. Gangwon (Saturday 7pm)

This is a true relegation 6 pointer as bottom club Daejeon host 13th placed Gangwon. The two teams only have 3 wins between them from their combined 46 games which shows the type of season they’re having.  Gangwon are on a 5 game losing run, whilst Daejeon have at least drawn 2 of their previous 5 games. This should be an interesting and close game, however we’re going to side with Daejeon to win for just the 2nd time this season (1st at home).

Prediction: 2 – 1

Jeju United vs. Jeonbuk Motors (Saturday 7pm)

This is an interesting game in the middle of the K League Classic as 8th placed Jeju United host 3rd placed Jeonbuk Motors. Jeju United are still holding onto a chance of making the championship round and are only 1 point behind Busan. However with only 1 win from their last 5 games things are not looking good. Jeonbuk are looking at the title race as they’re only 5 points behind league leaders Pohang. This game will be very close and we feel it will end in a draw.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Seongnam vs. Ulsan Hyundai (Saturday 7pm)

9th Placed Seongnam host 2nd placed Ulsan Hyundai in the 3rd of Saturdays 7pm games. Seongnam still have a chance of making the championship round and are only 3 points away from 7th place. Last weekend they earnt a hard fought point vs. Suwon, so they are showing signing of  improvement. Ulsan on the other hand are on a bad run and are without a win in 3 games and lost a close game last weekend vs. Busan. This again will be close but we feel that a draw is most likely.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Incheon United vs. Busan I’Park (Saturday 7.30pm)

In Saturdays later game 5th placed Incheon United host 7th placed Busan I’Park. A win for Incheon United will guarantee a place in the championship round however a win for Busan will improve Busans changes of making it. Both teams have similar recent form with a mixture of wins, draws and defeats. This once again will be a close game, however due to Busans poor away form we feel that Incheon will edge it.

Prediction: 1 – 0

Daegu vs. Suwon Bluewings (Sunday 7pm)

12th placed Daegu host 6th placed Suwon Bluewings with both teams needing wins for different reasons. Daegu are currently on the relegation playoff spot and only 2 points above the relegation zone, so  a win will help them in their battle with possible relegation. Suwon on the other hand need a win to try and seal a place in the championship round. Both teams surprisingly have similar form with Suwon doing a little better in recent weeks. We feel that Suwon will win this one.

Prediction: 1 – 3

Chunnam Dragons vs. Pohang Steelers (Sunday 7pm)

In the second of Sundays games 10th placed Chunnam Dragons face table toppers Pohang Steelers. Chunnam still have a super slim chance of making the championship round, however they’d need Busan, Jeju and Seongnam to loss all of their reminding games (highly unlikely). Chunnam Dragons recent form hasn’t been good has they are without a win in 3 games. Pohang on the other hand are on good form, apart from a surprise 0-0 draw last weekend vs. Gyeongnam. We feel that Pohang will edge this one.

Prediction: 0 – 1

Gyeongnam vs. FC Seoul (Sunday 7pm)

In the final Sunday 7pm game of the week 11th placed Gyeongnam host 4th placed FC Seoul. Gyeongnam need a win to avoid being sucked into the relegation battle and come into the game on good form after scoring an impressive draw vs. league leaders Pohang last weekend. FC Seoul have there sights on retaining their K League crown which a few months ago looked very unlikely. FC Seoul come into the game on a strong winning run but did draw during the week vs. Al Ahli (Saudi Arabia) in the AFC Champions League. Still we feel that FC Seoul will win this one.

Prediction: 0 – 2

The K League Challenge is now moving onto round 21 and just like the last few weeks the 4 games are split over 3 days (1 Sat, 2 Sun, 1 Mon). The highlight game of this round is the meeting between the Army (Sangmu Sanglu) and Korean Police, both teams are mainly made up of players serving their military service and would normally be playing in K League Classic.
