K League Classic 2013 Round 29 a

It’s the weekend and that means some more exciting K League Classic Action. We’ve moved into round 29 and the 2 halves of the post split league are shaping up nicely. The fixtures are listed above. (Note: FC Seoul and Jeju United both have bye rounds)

Here are our brief previews of each game as well as predictions for this K League Classic Round 29:

K League Classic Round 29:

Saturday September 21st

Busan I’Park vs. Jeonbuk Motors (4pm) – Championship Group

7th placed (Bottom of the group) Busan I’Park host 4th placed Jeonbuk Motors in the first of Saturdays games. Both teams have exactly the same post split form of 1 Draw and 1 Loss. However considering their overall season forms we’re giving the edge to Jeonbuk this afternoon.

Prediction: 1 – 2

Gangwon vs. Seongnam (5pm) – Relegation Group

In the final Saturday game 6th placed and relegation threaten Gangwon host 2nd placed (in the group) Seongnam who are just playing for pride at this stage of the season. Gangwon are currently 5 points adrift of Daegu in 5th and 7 points from safety so every game is must win.  This game is hard to call because it depends on whether Seongnam give 100% or not, we’re going to say they will and therefore win.

Prediction: 0 – 2

Sunday September 22nd

Gyeongnam vs. Daegu (2pm) – Relegation Group

In the first of this weekends relegation group games 4th placed (in the group) Gyeongnam host 5th placed Daegu in a real 6 pointer. Currently there are just 2 points between the sides and they also have similar post split form. This game looks destined for an entertaining draw in our opinion.

Prediction: 2 – 2

Pohang Steelers vs. Ulsan Hyundai (2pm) – Championship Group

This is a true championship 6 pointer as current league leaders Pohang Steelers host 2nd placed Ulsan Hyundai. Currently there is just a single point separating the two sides and their goal differences are similar. Therefore a win for either would them an edge in the championship race. This is also a local derby which adds to the excitement. We personally feel that Pohang should edge the game but it could go either way.

Prediction: 2 – 1

Suwon Bluewings vs. Incheon United (2pm) – Championship Group

Both of these sides still have a slight chance of making the top 3 and therefore earn a place in the AFC Champions League. 5th placed Suwon have the better recent form having beaten Busan during the week. Incheon on the other hand haven’t done so well drawing and losing once. This should be an interesting game but we feel Suwon should come away with the 3 points.

Prediction: 1 – 0

Chunnam Dragons vs. Daejeon Citizen (3pm) – Relegation Group

In the final game of the weekend Chunnam Dragons host bottom of the group and league Daejeon Citizen. Chunnam are currently 12 points clear of any danger whilst Daejeon are 7 points away for the playoff spot and 9 points off safety. This might not sound like a lot but its a mountain for a team with only 2 wins all season. Like most of the games this week this one will be close but we feel Chunnam will edge it.

Prediction: 2 – 0
