For this weeks Modern Seoul KPOP Song of the Week we’ve chosen “Only One” (2014 Incheon Asiad Song) by JYJ. The full video for this song was published on YouTube a week ago (last Sunday) and has been viewed over 550,000 times so far. Here are our reasons for choosing “Only One” for our KPOP song of the week:
- Firstly the song flows nicely and has a number of strong harmonies.
- Secondly the video is a little cheesey but it does feature Incheon, Songdo and Incheon United nicely.
- Finally with a strong foreign fan based and as this is for the Incheon 2014 Asian games it’s nice that the song is mainly in Korean and they didn’t make it “International KPOP”.
- On the negative side; for a video promoting the Asian Game there was an obvious lack of sport.
More Information on JYJ
JYJ formed as a group back in 2010 and the name is simply the first letter of each of the their names (Junsu – Yoochun -Jaejoong). Over the past 3 years they’ve performed on a number of different tours mainly in Japan, USA and South East Asia. They’ve had a number of successful singles and albums and this release looks to join their success list.
