As we move into the Fall months the K League Classic continues to move on as well. This weekend we have 6 games in round 31, with most teams having something still to play for.
Also Jeonbuk Motors and Chunnam Dragons have this weekend off.
Here are our brief previews of each game as well as predictions for this K League Classic Round 31:
K League Classic Round 31:
Saturday October 5th:
Pohang Steelers vs. Suwon Bluewings (2pm) – Championship Group
Current league leaders Pohang face 5th placed Suwon in Saturdays early afternoon game. Both sides drew last weekend with Pohang grabbing a point in the 94th minute against Incheon United. Both sides after basically the same form coming into this game, however because of home advantage we’re siding with Pohang to edge it.
Prediction: 1 – 0
Ulsan Hyundai vs. Busan I’Park (4pm) – Championship Group
3rd placed Ulsan host 7th placed Busan in this South East derby match. Busan come into the game with the worst form in the championship group 1 draw and 2 defeats. On the other hand Ulsan have done slightly better gaining 4 points from their 2 games. We’re going to side with Ulsan this week but it will be a close game.
Prediction: 2 – 1
Gangwon vs. Gyeongnam (4pm) – Relegation Group
13th and 2nd bottom side Gangwon host 11th placed Gyeongnam in the 1st of 2 Saturday Relegation group games. Gangwon secured a vital win over Daejeon last weekend, whilst on the other hand Gyeongnam lost at home against an in form Seongnam. With only 9 points between the sides Gyeongnam cannot afford to slip up this weekend. But with Gangwon on a high after last weeks win we fancy this one to end in a draw.
Prediction: 1 – 1
Daegu vs. Daejeon Citizen (4pm) – Relegation Group
12th placed Daegu host bottom side Daejeon in a true relegation 6 pointer. After last weeks defeat to Gangwon, Daejeon cannot afford to lose again as they are currently 6 points away from Daegu but 11 points from safety. Daegu didn’t play last weekend and so should be well rested and ready to go. This one is hard to call so we’re going to sit on the fence a little and side with a draw.
Prediction: 0 – 0
Sunday October 6th:
Incheon United vs. FC Seoul (4pm) – Championship Group
6th placed Incheon host 4th placed Seoul in Sundays only Championship group game. This game is also known as the Gyeongin Derby, sadly the last time these two side met there were some ugly scenes of violence of the field so we hope this time things will be a little more peaceful. FC Seoul traveled to Iran during the week for a Champions League tie to maybe slightly jet lagged, Incheon on the other hand were unlucky not to beat Pohang last weekend instead drawing due to a 94th minute equalizer. We personal see this being a draw however either side could edge it.
Prediction: 2 – 2
Seongnam vs. Jeju United (2pm) – Relegation Group
In Sundays only Relegation group game already safe pair Seongnam and Jeju meet in would may be more like a pre-season friendly. Both sides have 9 points so far during this Relegation Group campaign and so it will be hard to split them. However with home advance and with only a few games left in Seongnam, we’re siding with the home team.
Prediction: 2 – 0
