K League Classic 2013 Round 32

October 9th here in South Korea is a national holiday and so the K League Classic is playing a special midweek afternoon round of games. The title race is hotting up and with an international coming up away this round so teams can give it 100%. Also because of the international break a few players are unavailable, namely FC Seoul’s Daejan.

Also Incheon United and Seongnam have this holiday off.

Here are our brief previews of each game as well as predictions for this K League Classic Round 32:

K League Classic Round 32:

Wednesday October 9th:

Suwon Bluewings vs. FC Seoul (1pm) – Championship Group

Wednesdays early game is the “Big Match” as the two K League Giants clash. Suwon Bluewings vs. FC Seoul is one of the biggest sporting rivalries in South Korea (and maybe Asia), and the games are always near sell outs (weather permitting). The sides are currently 4th and 5th, with very similar form and are only 4 points apart. This game is always entertaining, however we feel that they’ll share the points this time.

Prediction: 2 – 2

Pohang Steelers vs. Busan I’Park (2pm) – Championship Group

Busan play their 2nd South East derby within a few days as they travel to Pohang. Pohang are currently 2nd (on goal difference) whilst Busan sit at the bottom of the Championship group. Busan also have the worst form in the group with only 1 point from 4 games. Pohang haven’t done much better recently however we feel they’ll be to strong for Busan.

Prediction: 3 – 1

Jeonbuk Motors vs. Ulsan Hyundai (4pm) – Championship Group

The final Championship Group game is the battle of the Hyundai Clubs. Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors (currently 3rd) host Ulsan Hyundai (1st) in a game that has big implications at the top of the table, as the teams are only 2 points apart. Ulsan have the slightly the better form, however this does seem destined for a draw.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Jeju United vs. Gangwon (2pm) – Relegation Group

Just like last season Gangwon are making a late attempt to avoid relegation and have won their previous 2 games to only find themselves in the relegation zone on Goal Difference. Jeju United on the other hand are 26 points clear of the relegation zone and so are basically playing for fun now. This is a difficult game to predict however we feel Jeju should on paper at least edge it.

Prediction: 1 – 0

Chunnam Dragons vs. Daegu (3pm) – Relegation Group

Chunnam Dragons are 12 points clear of the relegation zone and therefore a few more wins will secure K league Classic football for them next season. Daegu on the other hand are in a little trouble as they are currently in the relegation playoff place and only out of the relegation zone on goal difference. Although Chunnam haven’t done very well recently we feel they should win this one as they are at home.

Prediction: 2 – 0

Daejeon Citizen vs. Gyeongnam (4pm) – Relegation Group

Bottom club Daejeon Citizen sadly are sinking like a stone and really need a miracle to survive, they are 10 points from safety and 6 points away from Gangwon and Daegu. Gyeongnam are also in a little trouble these days as a run of 2 defeats has left them heading the relegation battle. This is a real 6 pointer and neither team can afford to lose, so it’s hard to predict so we’re siding with a close draw.

Prediction: 1 – 1
