K League Classic 2014 Round 2

After an overall cagey start to the K League Classic 2014 last weekend, teams will have hopefully gelled together more and will be looking to push on. With 4 of the sides in AFC Champions League action this past week those sides will have a little more match practice, but possibly more jet lag.

This week (just like last week) there are 6 games, 3 on Saturday and 3 on Sunday. All of the home teams from last week have away games and all of the away sides from round 1 have home ties. Also all of the games are being played in the afternoon as the weather is still pretty cold. Here are brief previews of this weeks K League Classic Round 2 Games;

K League Classic 2014 Round 2 Previews & Predictions

Saturday March 15th:

Incheon United vs. Jeonbuk Motors (2pm)

The first game this weekend is hosted by Incheon Untied who played out an entertaining draw last weekend 2-2 vs. Sangju Sangmu (Korean Army). Visitors Jeonbuk Hyundai were also involved in an exciting game as they beat Busan I’Park 3-0. Jeonbuk maybe at a slight disadvantage as they are returning from Australia having played out a 2-2 draw vs. Melbourne Victory on Wednesday evening in the AFC Champions League. This game could go either way depending on who turns up, so we’re siding with an entertaining score draw.

Prediction: 2 – 2

Busan I’Park vs. Pohang Steelers (2pm)

Busan I’Park had an opening game to forgot vs. Jeonbuk Hyundai as they were beaten 3-0. Reigning Champions Pohang Steelers also lost their opening game but in a close game vs. Ulsan Hyundai 1-0. Pohang did however pick up 3 points in their AFC Champions League games in Thailand vs. Buriram United 2-1. This will be a close game which neither want to lose and so we feel it will end all square.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Seongnam FC vs. FC Seoul (4pm)

Seongnam FC will play their first ever home game in Saturdays final tie. They lost a close game last weekend vs. Gyeongnam 1-0 and so will be looking to improve. Also looking to improve their league form are visitors FC Seoul who lost and played poorly vs. Jeonnam Dragons also 1-0. FC Seoul also drew during the week in China vs. Beijing Guoan 1-1 (although the last minute red card for the Beijing goalkeeper maybe took the 3 points). This should be a close game, but we feel FC Seoul should edge it.

Prediction: 0 – 1

Sunday March 16th:

Ulsan Hyundai vs. Gyeongnam (2pm)

Ulsan Hyundai gained a little revenge last weekend vs. rivals Pohang Steelers by taking all 3 points. Visitors Gyeongnam also won during the opening round by a single goal at home vs. Seongnam. Ulsan also won on Wednesday evening in the AFC Champions League at home vs. Japanese side Kawasaki Frontale 2-0. We feel that home field advance plus solid resent form will lead Ulsan to victory.

Prediction: 2 – 0

Suwon Bluewings vs. Sangju Sangmu (2pm)

Suwon Bluewings started their 2014 campaign strongly beating Jeju Untied in a quiet match away from Home. On the other hand visitors Sangju Sangmu (Korean Army) were involved in an entertaining 2-2 draw vs. Incheon United. Both sides were involved in contrasting games last weekend, however we feel Suwon with home field advantage should win.

Prediction: 3 – 1

Jeonnam Dragons vs. Jeju United (4pm)

Once again the Jeju United feature in the final game of the weekend. They face last weeks surprise package Jeonnam Dragons who beat and outplayed giants FC Seoul in Seoul. Jeju United lost narrowly to Suwon in a pretty dull encounter. We feel if Jeonnam can match last weeks performance they should pick up all 3 points.

Prediction: 2 – 1
