K League Classic 2014 Round 5

The K League Classic moves into Round 5 and after an interesting midweek round we’re back to the normal weekend action. Most of the teams seem to have settled into this new seasons and the league to starting to take shape.

As there has now been 12 points up for grabs the League Table is starting to form and therefore for reference here is the latest K League Classic 2014 League Table, including Points and Goal Difference:

K League Classic 2014 League Table March 28th

The league table shows that after 4 games nobody has a 100% record, and the only unbeaten team is 8th placed Sangju Sangmu who’ve drawn all 4 of their games. Ulsan are still top but only on goal difference above surprise package Jeonnam Dragons. The rest are all pretty close apart from Incheon United who are already 3 points adrift at the bottom of the table.

This weekend there are once again 6 games, 3 on Saturday and 3 on Sunday. Also all of the games are still being played in the afternoon and will be until May. Here are brief previews of this weeks K League Classic Round 5 Games;

K League Classic 2014 Round 5 Previews & Predictions

Saturday March 29th:

Ulsan Hyundai vs. FC Seoul (2pm)

The first of this weeks games features two of the leagues big sides Ulsan Hyundai and FC Seoul. Current league leaders Ulsan suffered a surprise loss on Wednesday away to Jeonnam, whilst FC Seoul won their first league game of the season vs. Jeju United. Still we feel that Ulsan at home will be strong enough to see off Seoul.

Prediction: 2 – 1

Pohang Steelers vs. Sangju Sangmu (2pm)

Pohang Steelers eased to an impressive victory over Jeonbuk Hyundai during the week giving them a 2 game winning run. Sangju Sangmu are the only unbeaten K League Classic this season, but they’ve also not won all season drawing every game. This should be a close and interesting game, but we see the home side Pohang taking the 3 points.

Prediction: 1 – 0

Jeonbuk Hyundai vs. Seongnam FC (4pm)

In Saturdays late afternoon game, Jeonbuk Hyundai face Seongnam FC. Jeonbuk lost on Wednesday vs. Pohang Steelers and looked unimpressive, on the other hand Seongnam FC in front of over 8,000 (a round 4 high) won 2 – 0 over Suwon Bluewings. However away from home Seongnam haven’t looked the same animal, so we’re siding with a win for Jeonbuk.

Prediction: 2 – 0

Sunday March 30th:

Incheon Untied vs. Jeonnam Dragons (2pm)

Sundays first game features a bottom vs. top (well 2nd on goal difference) clash between Incheon United and Jeonnam Dragons. This is only Incheon United 2nd home game of the season and they’ll be looking to gain some form as away from home they haven’t looked good. Jeonnam on the other hand are this seasons surprise package (just like Incheon were in 2013), the beat leaders Ulsan this past Wednesday and looked strong. This is a tricky game to call but we feel honestly that a draw is the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Jeju United vs. Gyeongnam (2pm)

6th play 7th in Sundays second game with both Jeju United and Gyeongnam having very similar records. Both sides have won 2 and lost 2, although this past Wednesday Gyeongnam won (1-0 vs. Incheon) and Jeju United lost (2-0 vs. FC Seoul). So this really should be a close and interesting game, but they may cancel each other out.

Prediction: 0 – 0

Suwon Bluewings vs. Busan I’Park (4pm)

The final game of round 5 has 2nd bottom Suwon Bluewings facing 4th placed Busan I’Park. At the start of the season predictions would have suggested a role reversal. Suwon Bluewings lost for the 2nd game in a row vs. Seongnam (2-0). Whilst Busan I’Park grabbed a last minute draw vs. Sangju Sangmu (1-1), but in front of a disappointing crowd of just 2088. This once again is a strange one which could easily go either way, but we’re going to side with the away team (just).

Prediction: 1 – 2

Saturday March 29th

Ulsan Hyundai 2 – 1 FC Seoul

Incheon United 0 – 0 Jeonnam Dragons
Jeju United 1 – 1 Gyeongnam
Suwon Bluewings 1 – 0 Busan I’Park
