K League Challenge 2014 Round 4

The K League Challenge moves in round 4 of the 2014 season and the teams both old and new have started to settle into the new season. Once again like last week we’re trying something a little different and doing separate posts for the K League Classic and K League Challenge.

The K League Classic Round 8 details PLEASE CLICK HERE.

Before looking at the previews and predictions for this weeks round 4, here is updated an updated league table:

K League Challenge 2014 League Table April 11th

As you can see the only side still with a 100% record after three games are Ansan Police FC. However FC Anyang and Daejeon Citizen are following closely behind. Chungju Hummel sit in the final playoff spot. Gwangju, Suwon City, Goyang Hi and Daegu sit middle table positions 5th to 8th. Whilst finally Bucheon 1995 & Gangwon sit at the bottom of the table currently pointless, although not for much longer as they play each other this weekend.

Also Korean FA Cup 2014 Update; this past Wednesday all 10 K League Challenge sides entered the 2nd round of the Korean FA Cup. Sadly Goyang Hi, Chungju Hummel and Ansan Police FC all lost and therefore have been knocked out of the competition. However the other 7 sides won and move onto the 3rd round. K League Challenge 2014 Round 4 Previews & Predictions

Saturday April 12th

Goyang Hi vs. Suwon City FC (2pm)

This weekends first game features two of the K League Challenges founder clubs Goyang Hi and Suwon City FC. Goyang Hi shocked a lot of people last weekend beating Daegu away from home. However their loss in the FA Cup midweek was a blow. Suwon City looked poor last weekend losing 3-0 at the hands of Ansan Police and needed a 90th winner to get past amateur side Hwaseong FC in the cup. Should be a close game with a draw being the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Chungju Hummel vs. Daegu (4pm)

The first of Saturdays later kick offs as currently unbeaten Chungju Hummel take on struggling Daegu. Chungju Hummel suffered a surprise defeat in cup vs. Ajou University losing 4-2 on penalties. Daegu on the other hand eased passed Dong Eui University 3-0. If Daegu can bring their cup form into this game is should be a close encounter but they should come out on top.

Prediction:  1 – 2

FC Anyang vs. Ansan Police FC (4pm)

The final Saturday game is a top of the table clash between two unbeaten sides. League leaders Ansan Police suffered a shock FA Cup defeat on penalties during the week vs. Amateur side Gyeongju HNP. FC Anyang on the other hand eased past Sungkyunkwan University 2-0. Despite their midweek cup loss we feel Ansan will be a strong match for FC Anyang and maybe to much.

Prediction: 1 – 2

Sunday April 13th (both at 2pm)

Bucheon 1995 vs. Gangwon

Sundays first game is in contrast to Saturdays late game as it’s a bottom of the table clash between two sides both without a point all season. Bucheon 1995 put 4 past Sangji University on Wednesday evening in the cup, whilst Gangwon also won but in a close match vs. Yongin City. Both sides need a win to kick start their seasons but honestly a drew seems the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Daejeon Citizen vs. Gwangju

The final game of the weekend features two mid table sides Daejeon Citizen and Gwangju. Both sides are on solid runs of form and both win close games during the week in the FA Cup. This should be an interesting game, but we feel Daejeon at home should be able to edge it.

Prediction: 2 – 0
