K League Classic 2014 Round 10 Previews & Predictions

This weekend there are once again 6 games, 3 on Saturday and 3 on Sunday. Also all of the games are still being played in the afternoon and will be until May. A lot of these games are between teams close to or even next to each other in the league table. Here are brief previews of this weekends K League Classic Round 10 Games;

Saturday April 26th:

Jeonbuk Hyundai vs. Gyeongnam (2pm)

Saturdays first game features 2nd placed Jeonbuk Hyundai vs. 8th placed Gyeongnam.
Jeonbuk Hyundai progressed to the round of 16 in the Champions league during the week. Last weekend Jeonbuk won 2-0 away vs. Jeonnam Dragons.
Gyeongnam drew last weekend 0-0 vs. Sangju Sangmu.
This could be an interesting game however we feel Jeonbuk will control it and ease to another victory.

Prediction: 1 – 0

Jeju United vs. Busan I’Park (2pm)

Saturdays 2nd game has 3rd placed Jeju United hosting 7th placed Busan I’Park.
Jeju United won a close game last weekend 1-0 at home vs. Incheon United.
Busan I’Park also won a close game 1-0 vs. Seongnam at home.
This on paper doesn’t scream out a great game but you never know. We feel Jeju will edge it.

Prediction: 1 – 0

Seongnam FC vs. Jeonnam Dragons (4pm)

Saturdays final game has defensive 9th placed side Seongnam FC take on 6th placed Jeonnam Dragons.
Seongnam lost last weekend 1-0 vs. away Busan I’Park. However in 9 games they’ve only conceded 4 goals.
Jeonnam Dragons also lost last weekend 2-0 at home vs. Jeonbuk Hyundai.
Sadly another Saturday game take doesn’t really promise goals, could go either way but we’re siding with a draw.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Sunday April 27th:

Suwon Bluewings vs. FC Seoul (2.15pm)

Sundays main game is locally referred to as “The Super Match”, and features the K Leagues biggest two sides 4th placed Suwon Bluewings and 11th placed FC Seoul.
Suwon Bluewings drew last weekend 2-2 away vs. Ulsan, however they were 2 goals up.
FC Seoul lost for the 5th time this season at home 1-0 vs. Pohang Steelers. They did however win and progress to the next round in the Champions League.
Also an interesting and well attended game (expect 25,000+), this time we’re siding with league form side Suwon.

Prediction: 2 – 1

Pohang Steelers vs. Incheon United (2pm)

1st placed Pohang Steelers face bottom side Incheon United, in this top vs. bottom Sunday afternoon clash.
Pohang Steelers won last weekend on the road vs. FC Seoul 1-0. They also progressed in the Champions League.
Incheon United lost (for the 5th time) also away from home 1-0 vs. Jeju United. They also set a new K League Record of 8 games without scoring a single goal.
This is a Banana skin clash for Pohang, but they should be able to win. However we feel Incheon will finally score :).

Prediction: 3 – 1

Sangju Sangmu vs. Ulsan Hyundai (4pm)

Sundays final game features 10th placed Sangju Sangmu (Korean Army) vs. 5th placed Ulsan Hyundai.
Sangju Sangmu drew last weekend 0-0 away vs. Gyeongnam.
Ulsan also drew last weekend 2-2 at home vs. Suwon, however they did come back from 2-0 down.
Ulsan were the only Korean side to drop out of the Champions League this past week and will be looking to bounce back quickly.
Should be an even game and honestly we see it being a draw.

Prediction: 1 – 1

K League Classic 2014 Round 10 Results

Saturday April 26th

Jeonbuk Hyundai 4 – 1 Gyeongnam
Jeju United 2 – 1 Busan I’Park

Seongnam FC 0 – 1 Jeonnam Dragons

Jeonbuk Hyundai eased to a heavy win over Gyeongnam.
Jeju United continue their recent run of good form with a win over Busan.
Jeonnam claimed a valuable win over defensive Seongnam FC.

Sunday April 27th

Pohang Steelers 3 – 0 Incheon United
Suwon Bluewings 0 – 1 FC Seoul
Sangju Sangmu 1 – 1 Ulsan Hyundai

Pohang put 3 past Incheon in a game slightly tarnished by some odd refereeing decisions. 2 soft penalties (the 2nd missed) and a harsh red card for Striker Nikolic (who’d only been on the field for 4 minutes)  made a tough task more difficult for Incheon, who’ve now not scored in 9, won all season and only once in their last 23!
FC Seoul claimed the bragging rights in the “Super Match” thanks to a single second half goal.
Sangju and Ulsan shared the points in the late game. Ulsan could have taken all 3 but missed a 96th minute penalty.
