K League Classic 2014 Round 11 Previews & Predictions

This weekend there are once again 6 games, but in a slight change 4 are on Saturday and only 2 on Sunday. Also all of the games are still being played in the afternoon and will be until May. A lot of these games are between teams close to or even next to each other in the league table. Here are brief previews of this weekends K League Classic Round 11 Games;

Saturday May 3rd:

Seongnam FC vs. Pohang Steelers (2pm)

Saturdays first game features 11th (2nd bottom) placed Seongnam FC vs. league leaders Pohang Steelers.
Last weekend Seongnam FC lost 1-0 at home vs. Jeonnam Dragons.
Pohang Steelers won last weekend 3-0 at home vs. Incheon United.
Both sides won during the week in the cup over K League Challenge opposition.
Pohang are by far the league attacking powerhouse, whilst Seongnam have the leagues best defense. It will be close but we feel Pohang should edge it.

Prediction: 1 – 2

Suwon Bluewings vs. Jeonbuk Hyundai (2pm)

Saturdays 2nd game has 6th placed Suwon Bluewings hosting 2nd placed Jeonbuk Hyundai.
Suwon Bluewings lost a close game last weekend 1-0 at home vs. FC Seoul.
Jeonbuk Hyundai also won but a less even game 4-1 vs. Gyeongnam at home.
In this past Wednesdays FA Cup games Suwon lost and Jeonbuk won both vs. fellow K League Classic opposition.
Jeonbuk are the in form side but we wouldn’t discount Suwon putting up a fight. Jeonbuk narrowly in this one.

Prediction: 1 – 2

Ulsan Hyundai vs. Jeju United (2pm)

Saturdays 3rd 2pm game has 5th placed Ulsan Hyundai taking on 3rd placed Jeju United
Ulsan Hyundai drew last weekend vs. Sangju Sangmu away from home 1-1.
Jeju United won last weekend 2-1 at home vs. Busan I’Park.
In this past Wednesdays FA cup games, Ulsan Hyundai eased past University opposition whilst Jeju fell to Suwon  City.
Looking at both sides recent form this should be a very close game and a draw is the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Incheon United vs. FC Seoul (4pm)

Saturday late afternoon game, locally referred to as “The Gyeongin Derby”. This game features K League local rivals, bottom club Incheon United and 10th placed FC Seoul.
Incheon United lost last weekend 3-0 away vs. Pohang Steelers, their 9th game without scoring.
FC Seoul won last weekends Super Match vs. Suwon Bluewings 1-0 away from home.
This two sides played each other in the FA Cup, with FC Seoul winning 3-2 after extra time. But at least Incheon Scored.
This is always a fiery and passionate game, both sides are lacking form so we feel a draw is the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Sunday May 4th:

Jeonnam Dragons vs. Sangju Sangmu (2pm)

4th placed Jeonnam Dragons face 8th placed Sangju Sangmu in this Sunday afternoon clash.
Jeonnam Dragons won last weekend on the road vs. Seongnam FC 1-0.
Sangju Sangmu held Ulsan Hyundai to a 1-1 draw last weekend. Their 7th draw of the season.
Both sides faced fellow K League Classic opposition in the FA Cup, Jeonnam lost whilst Sangju won.
Sangju play as a tight unit as you might expect from an army side, whilst Jeonnam are unpredictable. Honestly we see Jeonnam edging it.

Prediction: 3 – 2

Busan I’Park vs. Gyeongnam (2pm)

Sundays final game features 7th placed Busan I’Park vs. 9th placed Gyeongnam.
Busan I’Park lost last weekend 2-1 away vs. Jeju United.
Gyeongnam also lost last weekend, but heavily 4-1 away vs. Jeonbuk Hyundai.
Busan won in the cup during the week vs. Amateur opposition, but only just needing penalties to progress. Gyeongnam also faced amateur opposition but crashed out.
We see Busan winning this one, but Gyeongnam will hopeful put up a fight.

Prediction: 2 – 0

K League Classic 2014 Round 11 Predictions Round Up

This week was pretty crazy result wise with the top 2 both losing and Incheon finally winning and scoring a goal (first in 10 games). Our predictions therefore were a little off, 2 correct results with 1 perfect score from the 6 games.
