The K League Challenge moves into round 10 of the 2014 season, although there is a solo K League Classic game this weekend the K League Challenge is basically the main source of domestic football until the beginning of July.
Before looking at the previews and predictions for this weeks round 10, here is updated an updated K League Challenge 2014 league table:
After round 9’s mid week fixtures the K League Challenge league table is still very tight but did change up a little. Daejeon extended their lead at the top of the table to an impressive 9 points and they also have a much stronger goal difference. Gangwon jumped up to 2nd, which is amazing seeing as they were bottom 2 just a few weeks ago. Only 3 points separate teams 3rd down to 9th showing the league is still wide open. Bucheon are closing the gap but are still bottom.
K League Challenge 2014 Round 10 Previews & Predictions
Here are brief previews and predictions for this Weekends 5 games.
Saturday May 17th
Daegu vs. Gangwon (POST until Sunday at 2pm)
The first game of the weekend has 3rd placed Daegu hosting 2nd placed Gangwon.
Both sides were in the K League Classic last season and are looking to return at the first time of asking.
On paper Daegu are on a real slide down whilst Gangwon are climbing up fast. Still it will be close and a draw maybe the most likely outcome.
Prediction: 1 – 1
Suwon City vs. Goyang Hi (4pm)
In Saturdays second game 3rd placed Suwon City host 4th placed Goyang Hi.
Neither side is on a good run of form with both sides within a win from their previous 2 games.
They are on the same points but Suwon have a stronger goal difference.
Overall this should be a close game but we feel Suwon should win as they are strong at home.
Prediction: 2 – 1
Ansan Police vs. FC Anyang (POST)
Ansan Police play their first home game since the Sewol Ferry Disaster and they face 6th placed FC Anyang.
Anyang are on an awful run of form not winning in 5 games.
Both sides have a similar record, however at home Ansan Police should prove to strong.
Prediction: N/A – Postponed
Sunday May 18th
Gwangju vs. Daejeon Citizen (2pm)
League leaders Daejeon Citizen travel to 7th placed Gwangju.
Gwangju won during the week breaking a 3 game winless run.
Daejeon are 9 points clear and haven’t lost since the start of the season.
Daejeon should be able to win this one as long as they stay strong at the back.
Prediction: 1 – 2
Chungju Hummel vs. Bucheon 1995 (4pm)
This weekends final game features 9th placed Daegu hosting bottom club Bucheon 1995.
This is a bottom of the table clash, however both sides are not miles away from mid table and even the playoff places.
Both sides have solid recent form but started poorly.
This one really could go either way but is a tip for game of the weekend. We see an entertaining draw.
Prediction: 2 – 2
