The K League Challenge moves into round 13 of the 2014 season, and with the K League Classic stopping for the summer the Challenge is now the top source of domestic football until the beginning of July.
Before looking at the previews and predictions for this weeks round 13, here is an updated K League Challenge 2014 league table:
After last weekends round 12 games the table remains tight (6 points between 2nd and 10th) but a few teams started to build on recent improvements in form. Daejeon are away and clear at the top of the table with a 13 point lead. Daegu have move up to 2nd, with Goyang and Gangwon in 3rd and 4th. However all 3 playoff sides have the same points. Below them are Suwon, Bucheon, Anyang and Gwangju who are only separated by 2 points. Then at the bottom are Ansan Police and Chungju, however once again as the league is so tight a few good results and both sides could be mid table if not higher.
K League Challenge 2014 Round 13 Previews & Predictions
Here are brief previews and predictions for this Weekends (and Fridays) 5 games. It’s also worthwhile noting that all of the games are being played in the evening as the league has now entered summertime and it’s to hot during the day.
Friday June 6th
FC Anyang vs. Goyang Hi (7pm)
The first game of the weekend is a rare Friday night game featuring 7th placed FC Anyang hosting 3rd placed Goyang Hi.
Goyang Hi are unbeaten in their past 3 games.
Anyang are lacking form and have only 1 win from their last 5 games.
Neither side is on great form and this could end up being a draw.
Prediction: 1 – 1
Saturday June 7th
Daejeon Citizen vs. Bucheon 1995 (7pm)
In Saturdays first game run away leaders Daejeon Citizen host in form 6th placed Bucheon 1995.
Bucheon are unbeaten in 5 games with 1 draw and 4 wins.
Daejeon are unbeaten in 11 games and haven’t lost since the start of the season in the league.
Daejeon at home are currently unbeatable and sadly we don’t see Bucheon breaking that form.
Prediction: 2 – 0
Ansan Police vs. Suwon City (POST)
Postponed in respect for the victims of the Sewol Ferry Disaster.
Prediction: N/A
Sunday June 8th
Gwangju vs. Gangwon (7pm)
Sundays first game features 8th placed Gwangju hosting 3rd placed Gangwon.
Gwangju have drawn their previous 2 games.
Gangwon have won 2 but also lost 2 of their previous 4 games.
Gwangju are stronger at home but Gangwon do travel well. This one looks to be a close game and a draw.
Prediction: 1 – 1
Daegu vs. Chungju Hummel (7pm)
In the final game of the weekend 2nd placed Daegu host bottom side Chungju Hummel.
Daegu only have 1 win from their last 6 games, but are somehow holding onto a playoff place.
Chungju have only won twice all season and have the worst defensive record in the league. But they did draw last weekend.
Although this is 2nd vs. bottom these sides are only 6 points apart and it will be close. However we see Daegu edging it.
Prediction: 2 – 1
