The K League Classic continues with it’s 2nd round of the weekend action since returning from the summer (world cup) break. Most of the team looked a little bit during the week although the standard of competitiveness has been a little lacking at times.
K League Classic League Table
As there has now been 14 games played and everybody has played each other at least once and the table to starting to take shape. So for reference here is the latest K League Classic 2014 League Table; including Games Played, Points and Goal Difference:
The league table is becoming closer as a number of sides bridge the gap between the top and bottom half’s. Jeonnam and Jeju are maybe doing a little better than expected, whilst on the other hand FC Seoul and Incheon United have failed to start so far this season.
K League Classic 2014 Round 15 Previews & Predictions
This weekends games are split evenly over both Saturday and Sunday. Of course all of the games are being played in the evening, so the players don’t have to deal with the 30c plus daytime Korean Summer. Here are brief previews of the K League Classic Round 15 Games;
Saturday July 12th:
FC Seoul vs. Suwon Bluewings (7pm)
The Big Match / Highlight of the K League Season (for many) is the first of the Saturdays games. Normally the Seoul World Cup Stadium can expect over 30,000 people come for this game.
FC Seoul are currently in 9th and have drawn both of their games since returning from the summer break.
Suwon Bluewings are currently 4th, they have 1 win and 1 draw since returning to action.
This game looks like a it will end in a draw, but it’s never a dull game.
Prediction: 1 – 1
Sangju Sangmu vs. Jeonnam Dragons (7pm)
Saturdays 2nd game is between 7th placed Sangju Sangmu and high flying Jeonnam Dragons.
Sangju Sangmu have a perfect record since returning, whilst Jeonnam have gained 4 points.
This one will be close, however we feel that with home field advantage Sangju will edge it.
Prediction: 2 – 1
Ulsan Hyundai vs. Pohang Steelers (7.30pm)
Saturdays final game is another local derby, this time between South East rivals Ulsan Hyundai (6th) and league leaders Pohang Steelers.
Ulsan have just a single point from their first two games since returning to action.
Pohang haven’t done much better drawing both of their games.
This one looks like a draw, but with all derbies you never know what might happen.
Prediction: 1 – 1
Sunday July 13th:
Gyeongnam vs. Jeonbuk Hyundai (7pm)
The first of Sunday games features 11th placed stragglers Gyeongnam and high flying 2nd placed Jeonbuk Hyundai.
Gyeongnam have 1 point from their games since returning to action, whilst Jeonbuk have 4.
This one looks like it’s Jeonbuk’s to lose.
Prediction: 1 – 3
Seongnam FC vs. Jeju United (7pm)
The second of Sundays games features 8th placed Seongnam FC hosting 5th placed Jeju United.
Both sides have drawn both of their games since retuning from the summer break.
Seongnam are strong at home whilst Jeju are average away, this looks like it will be close and another draw the most likely outcome.
Prediction: 0 – 0
Busan I’Park vs. Incheon United (7.30pm)
The final game of the weekend is a bottom of the table clash, 10th placed Busan I’Park host bottom side Incheon United.
Busan have lost both of their games since returning, whilst Incheon were able to pick up a point on Wednesday.
This might not be the highest quality of games but it’s must win for both sides, we feel Incheon might pull off a shock win.
Prediction: 1 – 2
