K League Challenge 2014 Round 19

The K League Challenge moves into round 19 of the 2014 season, and although the K League Classic is back in action and the K League Challenge still has a lot to offer. Plus now that the World Cup is over and the European league don’t start for another month, the K League is the best source of football action at the moment.

Before looking at the previews and predictions for this weeks round 18, here is an updated K League Challenge 2014 league table:

After last weeks round of games the league table is basically unchanged, Daejeon Citizen remain at the top with Daegu moving up to 2nd. FC Anyang and Gangwon complete the playoff places. Goyang, Ansan, Suwon and Gwangju are all within 2 points of the playoff places. Chungju and Bucheon 1995 are slightly adrift at the bottom.

Here are our brief previews and predictions for this Weekends (and Mondays) 5 games.

Saturday July 19th

Bucheon 1995 vs. Daejeon Citizen (7pm)

This is an interesting bottom vs. top clash.
Daejeon broke their run of bad form last weekend beating Anyang 4-0.
Bucheon 1995 have lost their last 6 games.
Daejeon with be very heavy favorites in this one.

Prediction: 0 – 3

Gwangju vs. Suwon City (7pm)

8th placed Gwangju host 7th placed Suwon City in this Saturday evening clash.
Gwangju have 2 wins in their last 3 games, whilst Suwon City have drawn their last 4 games.
This one will be tight and could be won by a single goal, so we’re siding with a draw.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Sunday July 20th

Goyang Hi vs. Chungju Hummel (7pm)

5th placed Goyang Hi have 2 wins from their last 3 games.
9th placed Chungju Hummel are surprisingly unbeaten in their last 5 games, but have drawn 4 of them.
This one on paper looks like it will be close and a draw maybe the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Ansan Police vs. Daegu (7.30pm)

Ansan Police continue to climb the table and are current in 6th place and unbeaten in 5 games.
2nd placed Daegu won for the first time in 4 games last weekend.
Ansan are strong at home and therefore should edge this one.

Prediction: 2 – 0

Monday July 21st

FC Anyang vs. Gangwon (7.30pm)

The Monday evening game features two playoff placed sides, FC Anyang (3rd) and Gangwon (4th)
Both sides lost last weekend and with a bunch of teams within 2 points of them, this game is must win in the playoff race.
Anyang are pretty solid at home and therefore we’re giving them a very slim edge.

Prediction: 1 – 0
