The K League Classic moves into the 21st round of the season, this weekend there are a number of interesting games. August is a busy month as all teams are playing at least 5 games each.
K League Classic League Table
As there has now been 20 games played (over half) and everybody has played each other at least once and the table to starting to take shape. So for reference here is the latest K League Classic 2014 League Table; including Games Played, Points and Goal Difference:
The league table saw a few changes after last weekends round of games, The top 3 all won and have build a slight gap down to Jeju in 4th. Ulsan jumped up to 5th over Jeonnam. FC Seoul lead the hunt for a place in the top half. Incheon are now up to 9th and 4 points clear of any relegation danger. Busan I’Park and Gyeongnam are both still in danger.
K League Classic 2014 Round 21 Previews & Predictions
This weekends round of games are equally split between Saturday and Sunday, and all games are in the evening (7pm or 7.30pm). Here are brief previews of the K League Classic Round 21 Games;
Saturday August 16th 2014:
Jeju United vs. Ulsan Hyundai (7pm)
This Saturdays first game features 4th placed Jeju United hosting 5th Ulsan Hyundai.
Jeju United have lost their previous 2 games and haven’t won in 3.
Ulsan on the other hand have won their previous 2 games.
These sides are next to each other in the table and are evenly matched, a draw seems the most likely outcome.
Prediction: 1 – 1
FC Seoul vs. Incheon United (7pm)
Saturdays 2nd game is a local derby between 7th placed FC Seoul and 9th placed Incheon United
FC Seoul have only lost once in their last 10 games. They also beat Busan in the cup during the week.
Incheon United have won their previous 3 games and are unbeaten in 4.
Both sides are on good form so a draw seem likely, although with local derbies you never know what might happen.
Prediction: 2 – 2
Pohang Steelers vs. Jeonbuk Hyundai (7pm)
Saturdays final game is a clash between the top 2 sides, 2nd placed Pohang Steelers and 1st placed Jeonbuk Hyundai.
Pohang Steelers have won their last 2 games and are only a point behind Jeonbuk.
Jeonbuk are unbeaten in 9 games, but don’t look great in the cup during the week although they did win.
Sadly this also looks like a draw, but it should be an entertaining game.
Prediction: 1 – 1
Sunday August 17th 2014:
Jeonnam Dragons vs. Suwon Bluewings (7pm)
Sundays first game is between 6th placed Jeonnam Dragons and 4th placed Suwon Bluewings.
Jeonnam have lost their last 4 and have dropped down to 6th.
Suwon have won 4 of their last 5 games.
Suwon will go into this one favorites but Jeonnam won’t just roll over.
Prediction: 1 – 2
Sangju Sangmu vs. Gyeongnam (7pm)
Sundays second game is the first of 2 relegation 6 pointers 8th placed Sangju Sangmu and 12th (bottom) Gyeongnam.
Sangju Sangmu have only 1 win from their last 6 games.
Gyeongnam have lost 3 and drawn 2 of their last 5 games, and haven’t won since the end of the March.
Neither side looks good, but Sangju won during the week in the cup so we’re giving them the edge.
Prediction: 1 – 0
Seongnam FC vs. Busan I’Park (7.30pm)
The final game of this a true relegation 6 pointer between 10th placed Seongnam FC and 11th placed Busan I’Park.
Seongnam have lost their previous 2 games and are the leagues lowest goalscorers with only 11 goals.
Busan I’Park haven’t won in 11 games and lost in the cup during the week.
Seongnam might have a slight edge at home but we see this ending in a goalless draw.
Prediction: 0 – 0

Sunday August 17th
