We’ve now reached the Semi Finals and all 4 of the remaining sides complete in the K League Classic. 2 currently in the race for the title and 2 in the relegation battle.
South Korea like any footballing nation has an exciting cup. The FA Cup of Korea has been running since 1970 and has a proud history. Although most K League sides focus on the league and sadly cup games are renowned for their low attendances, they can produce some shocks and the interest is building. This year the competition started in March and had a record number of teams enter 72.
All games are being played on Wednesday October 22nd and if scores remain even at full time, extra time and penalties are used to determine the winners.
KFA Korean FA Cup 2014 Semi Final Fixtures & Previews
Of course due to the fact sides might select changed or weaken sides it’s a little difficult to preview these games fully but we’ll give a solid prediction at least going on league form:
Sangju Sangmu vs. FC Seoul @ 7pm
Both Sangju Sangmu and FC Seoul currently complete in the K League Classic. Sangju are currently 11th and in the relegation playoff place, whilst FC Seoul are currently 5th.
In fact these sides played this exact fixture a little over a week ago and Sangju Sangmu won 1 – 0.
However we see FC Seoul maybe edging this one as Sangju’s win was there only one recently.
Prediction: 1 – 2
Jeonbuk Hyundai vs. Seongnam FC @ 7pm
Both Jeonbuk Hyundai and Seongnam FC currently complete in the K League Classic. They are opposite ends of the table with Jeonbuk Hyundai sitting at the top with 7 points, and Seongnam FC are towards the bottom in 10th.
They played each other a few weeks ago and Jeonbuk won 1 – 0.
Jeonbuk will be favorites coming into this one, but with the magic of the cup it could be an interesting night.
Prediction: 2 – 0
