The K League Classic moves into the 33rd round of the season, and this is the final round before the end of season league split. After this round the top 6 and bottom 6 will play each other 1 more time. The top 6 are aiming for a top 3 Champions League place and of course the title. Whilst the bottom 6 are trying to avoid bottom spot and relegation, as well as 11th and the relegation playoff.
K League Classic League Table
As there has now been 32 games played (so only 1 game to go in the main season) and everybody has played each other at least twice and the table to starting to take shape. So for reference here is the latest K League Classic 2014 League Table; including Games Played, Points and Goal Difference:
The league table does make for interesting reading and there are a number of tight areas. Jeonbuk Hyundai now have a 7 point gap at the top so the title looks like it’s theirs to lose. Suwon are in 2nd 6 points ahead of Pohang. Jeju, Seoul and Ulsan complete the top half. However Ulsan are level on points with 7th placed Jeonnam going into this final round before the split. Incheon are in 8th ahead of Busan and Seongnam. Sangju and finally Gyeongnam complete the table.
K League Classic 2014 Round 33 Previews & Predictions
This weekends round of games all take place on Sunday and at 2pm. Games of course now take place in the now cooler (compared to the summer) afternoons. Here are brief previews of this weekends K League Classic Round 33 Games;
Sunday October 26th 2014:
Pohang Steelers vs. Sangju Sangmu (2pm)
Sundays first game is between 3rd placed Pohang Steelers and 11th placed Sangju Sangmu.
Pohang Steelers haven’t won in 6 games now.
Sangju Sangmu aren’t much better with just 1 win in 6. Plus they were knocked out of the cup during the week.
We’re going to side with Pohang, have this maybe a scrappy game.
Prediction: 4 – 2
Jeonbuk Hyundai vs. Suwon Bluewings (2pm)
Sundays 2nd game is this weeks highlight game, it’s between league leaders Jeonbuk Hyundai and 2nd placed Suwon Bluewings.
Jeonbuk have won 4 in a row and are undefeated in 9, in the league.
Suwon Bluewings are unbeaten in 11 with 6 wins and 5 draws.
A win for Jeonbuk will put one hand on the title. However we feel that these sides are evenly matched and a draw is the likely outcome.
Prediction: 1 – 1
Seongnam FC vs. Ulsan Hyundai (2pm)
Sundays 3rd games is between FA Finalists Seongnam FC (10th) and 6th placed Ulsan Hyundai.
Seongnam have 2 wins form their last 4 games. But defeated Jeonbuk Hyundai in the cup during the week.
Ulsan won for the first time in 5 games last weekend and 3 points should secure a place in the top half.
We’re giving the edge to Ulsan as Seongnam maybe tired from their 120mins during the week.
Prediction: 0 – 1
Gyeongnam vs. Jeju United (2pm)
Sundays 4th game is between bottom side Gyeongnam and 4th placed Jeju United.
Gyeongnam have lost their last 2 games which included last weekends defeat to Busan.
Jeju United have 2 wins in 3 games, but can be unpredictable away from home.
We feel this one will be close and a draw the lucky outcome.
Prediction: 1 – 1
FC Seoul vs. Busan I’Park (2pm)
Sundays 5th game is between 5th placed FC Seoul and 9th placed Busan I’Park
FC Seoul have won 3 in 4 games in all competitions.
Busan I’Park have 3 wins and 2 draws from their last 5 games.
Busan are on form but can be weak away from home, therefore we’re siding with Seoul.
Prediction: 3 – 1
Incheon United vs. Jeonnam Dragons (2pm)
Sundays final game is between 8th placed Incheon United and 7th placed Jeonnam Dragons.
Incheon United lost last weekend but have won 3 of their last 5.
Jeonnam have only won 1 in 8, and lost last weekend again last weekend.
Although Jeonnam need a win to keep their top half dreams alive, we feel Incheon will edge it.
Prediction: 2 – 1

K League Challenge 2014 (Round 33)
Here are this weekends round 33 fixtures in the K League Challenge. There are a number of interesting clashes, however the top of the table clash between 2nd placed Ansan Police and 4th placed Gangwon looks to be the stand out game. Also if Ansan Police lose and Daejeon Citizen win, Daejeon will the crowned champions.
Also for reference here is the current league league. As you can see it’s still very tight with so few games to go, the gap between 4th and 5th is now 4 points but a few wins could still put someone new into the playoff places.
