K League Classic 2014 Round 35 November 8th

The K League Classic moves into the 35th round of the season and it’s second since the league split. At this stage of the season the top 6 and bottom 6 will play each other 1 more time. The top 6 are aiming for a top 3 Champions League place and of course the title. Whilst the bottom 6 are trying to avoid bottom spot and relegation, as well as 11th and the relegation playoff.

K League Classic League Table

As there has now been 34 games played (4 remaining) and we’ve pasted the leagues end of season split. Here for reference here is the latest K League Classic 2014 League Table; including Games Played, Points and Goal Difference:

K League Classic 2014 League Table November 7th

The league table does make for interesting reading and there are a number of tight areas. To make it a little easier we’ve split the preview by top and bottom.
Championship Round: Jeonbuk have a nice 10 point lead at the top and could secure the title this weekend.  Suwon and Pohang look pretty comfortable in the playoff places, but Jeju and Seoul both could make an end of season push.
Relegation Round: Sangju Sangmu are currently bottom, with Gyeongnam sitting in the relegation playoff spot. Seongnam are only up in 10th on goal difference. Busan and Incheon are still in danger but in control of their fates still. Jeonnam Dragons are safe.

K League Classic 2014 Round 35 Previews & Predictions

This weekends round of games are split evenly across Saturday and Sunday. Games of course now take place in the now cooler (compared to the summer) afternoons. Here are brief previews of this weekends K League Classic Round 35 Games;

Saturday November 8th 2014:

Jeju United vs. Jeonbuk Hyundai (4pm) – Championship Round

Saturdays last Championship Round game is between 5th Jeju United and league leaders Jeonbuk Hyundai.
Jeju United have just 2 wins in their last 6 games.
Jeonbuk have won 6 in a row and are undefeated in 11, in the league.
Jeonbuk could win the league this weekend and we feel they’ll win this game.

Prediction: 0 – 2

Busan I’Park vs. Incheon United (2pm) – Relegation Round

Saturdays early game  is between league 9th placed Busan I’Park and 8th placed Incheon United. Both sides could almost secure safety by winning this one.
Busan I’Park have 4 wins and 3 draws from their last 7 games.
Incheon United have picked up 8 points from their last 5 games.
Neither side is losing at the moment and therefore a draw seems the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Sangju Sangmu vs. Seongnam FC (2pm) – Relegation Round

Saturdays 2nd relegation round game is between bottom club Sangju Sangmu and 10th placed Seongnam FC.
Sangju Sangmu have lost 4 of their last 5.
Seongnam have just 1 win in 5 games, but where unlucky to draw last weekend.
Both sides are on poor form but both need the points so this could be a scrappy yet entertaining game. We feel it will end in a draw.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Sunday November 9th 2014:

Suwon Bluewings vs. FC Seoul (2pm) – Championship Round

Sundays first game is the “Super Match”, the derby between Suwon Bluewings (2nd) and FC Seoul (5th).
Suwon Bluewings easily beat Ulsan last weekend on the road and have only lost once in 13 games.
FC Seoul have just 2 wins from their last 6 league games. But are in the FA Cup final.
This maybe a derby but we’re siding with in-form Suwon.

Prediction: 2 – 1

Pohang Steelers vs. Ulsan Hyundai (4pm) – Championship Round

Sundays 2nd game is another local derby, this time a South East derby between 3rd placed Pohang Steelers and 6th placed Ulsan Hyundai.
Pohang Steelers have just 1 win in 8 games.
Ulsan have 2 wins from their last 3 games.
This is a tough one to call and honestly it looks like it may end in a draw.

Prediction: 1 – 1

Gyeongnam vs. Jeonnam Dragons (2pm) – Relegation Round

Sundays final game is between 11th placed Gyeongnam and already safe 7th placed Jeonnam Dragons.
Gyeongnam have just 1 win in 5 games, and played out a dull draw last weekend vs. Incheon.
Jeonnam have only won 1 in 10, but rescued a point in the dieing moments for the 2nd time in 2 weeks again last weekend.
Neither side is on form, but Gyeongnam have more to play for so we’re giving them the slight edge.

Prediction: 1 – 0

K League Challenge 2014 (Round 35)

Here are this weekends round 35 fixtures the penultimate round of the 2014 K League Challenge season. There are a number of interesting clashes, however as Daejeon Citizen won the title during the week thanks to a draw between Ansan and Anyang their fixture should be interesting. Daejeon Citizen vs. Suwon City is therefore our pick of the week.

K League Challenge 2014 Round 35 November 8th

Also for reference here is the current league league. As you can see it’s still very tight with just 2 games to go, Daejeon are of course champions and Ansan have secured 2nd place but the rest of the table is still changeable. All of the teams from 2nd to 7th have a realistic chance of making the playoffs, whilst Goyang Hi would need some luck. Bucheon 1995 look like they will finish bottom.
