Kimchi maybe the national dish of Korea and comes in countless different flavors and ingredient combinations. However one thing most Koreans agree on is that domestic Kimchi is better than anything imported. Most imported Kimchi comes from China and is generally cheaper and sold in small packets. Kimchi made in South Korea but with cabbages and even salt from China, is also considered Chinese Kimchi by many.
We personally feel that the cheaper Korean Kimchi is often worse than the Chinese stuff as it doesn’t last as long and tastes bland. However good Korean made Kimchi made with fresh ingredients and containing no added preservatives (apart from Salt of course) is maybe the best you can find. The only downside is price.
