Hello and welcome to this weeks Modern Seoul KPOP Song of the Week, our second for January and 2015. Although there were a number of interesting new releases recently, we’ve chosen the solo debut by Jonghyun (종현) (from SHINee). The song is titled “Crazy“ (Guilty Pleasure) and it was released on Thursday January 8th. Since then the video has been viewed around 1 million times on the SMTown YouTube Channel. Here are our reasons for choosing “Crazy” (Guilty Pleasure) for our KPOP song of the week:
- Firstly the song showcases Jonghyun’s vocal talents excellently. It also doesn’t over use musical effects. Plus the rapping by Iron worked well.
- Secondly the video focuses on Jonghyun and does have a slight storyline.
- Finally it’s nice to see another SHINee member launch their solo career, if this release is anything to go on Jonghyun will have a successful future.
- On the negative side; it’s the first big release of 2015 and might get lost in the next few weeks.
