Hello and welcome to this weeks Modern Seoul KPOP Song of the Week, our first for February. Although there were a number of interesting new releases recently, we’ve chosen the debut release by Girl Group GFriend (여자친구). The song is titled “Glass Bead“ and it was released on Wednesday January 14th. In that time it has been viewed nearly 900,000 times on the KT Music YouTube Channel. Here are our reasons for choosing “Glass Bead” for our KPOP song of the week:
- Firstly the song is more classic bubblegum KPOP which is popular so far in 2015 and GFriend really do the song justice.
- Secondly the video is cute with the schoolgirl theme, containers a nice little story and highlights the song & group well.
- Finally GFriend are a new group but many are seeing them as potential stars of the future.
- On the negative side; have we heard this sound before? Is it very original?
