The Korean FA Cup / KFA Cup enters it’s Quarter Final stage on Wednesday evening (July 22nd 2015). This years cup has featured a few shock results and this round had an interesting as only 1 game features 2 K League Classic sides, and the rest are giant killings in the making. The highlight game is: Jeonnam Dragons vs. Ulsan Mipo Dolphins, Ulsan are the only non K League Classic side still in the competition and this could be a giant killing of a game.
South Korea like any footballing nation has an exciting cup, the FA Cup of Korea has been running since 1970 and has a proud history. Although most K League sides focus on the league and sadly cup games are renowned for their low attendances, they can produce some shocks and the interest is building and the competition improves year on year.
This year the competition started in March and had a record number of teams enter 79 (up from 72 in 2014). Teams still in the competition include University sides and amateur teams as well as the professionals from the K League Classic / Challenge. The overall winner also gains a place in the 2016 AFC Champions League.
All games are being played on Wednesday evening July 22nd. If scores remain even at full time, extra time and penalties are used to determine the winners. So no replays.

Then it’s University and Amateur sides which have their own separate system.
Of course due to the large number of games and range of sides full previews are very difficult, it’s also possible sides will use weakened teams;
Seongnam FC vs. Ulsan Hyundai @ 7.30pm
The first quarter final game is an all K League Classic clash between Seongnam FC and Ulsan Hyundai. Seongnam are currently 5th whilst Ulsan Hyundai are down in 10th. The last time they played each other Seongnam won 1-0.
FC Seoul vs. Pohang Steelers @ 7.30pm
Again 2 K League Classic sides clash as FC Seoul take on Pohang Steelers. FC Seoul are currently 6th whilst Pohang Steelers are 4th. They played each other just over a week ago with Pohang winning 3-1.
Jeonnam Dragons vs. Ulsan Mipo Dolphins @ 7.30pm
Jeonnam Dragons of the K League Classic host National League opposition in the form of Ulsan Mipo Dolphins (the lowest ranked side left in the competition). Jeonnam are currently 3rd in the classic whilst Ulsan Dolphins are 2nd in the national league.
Jeju United vs. Incheon United @ 8pm
The late game is between 2 K League Classic sides Jeju United and Incheon United. They are currently next to each other in the league table with Jeju United 8th and Incheon United 7th. They played each other at the start of the month with the game ending 0-0.
