The next entry into our Korean Snack Series is the Kakao Friends / Kakao Talk Candy; Kakao Talk is an extremely popular messaging service which although now worldwide originated here in South Korea. With social messaging comes emoticons and the Kakao Friends are the mascots of the Kakao Talk service. In the past year or so they’ve started to expand (much like the angry birds craze) into other markets and products. Here are our quick thoughts on the candy entry:
Quick Thoughts: The design is cute and simple, which certainly grabs your attention. It’s cheap we paid under ₩1000 each ($1) (can’t remember the exact price as it was an impulsive buy). The chocolate tasted good and it was enjoyable, however it’s nothing special from a taste point of view. It makes a nice small gift or snack after a long day.
Overall it’s cute, cheap and fun. It’s a nice little gift or snack but nothing amazing from a snack point of view.

ahhhh i just recently been using kakao talk and the cat emoticons are my fav!
These are so cute!! Where can they be bought, whether in Korea or elsewhere? I am searching.
Found them at our local CU Mart and have also seen them at Mini-Stop. Guessing they’ll also be available at Homeplus, E-Mart etc.
Thank you!!!! I will be sure to get some when I go back to Korea and/or ask my friends to get me some this month!
