This long Hangul Day weekend is the last until Christmas and one of the last of this long Korean summer. As we were in the area we popped into the Great Korean Beer Festival 2015 (October 8th to 11th). With 13 different beer tents/booths boasting around 80 different beers (mainly Korean Craft Beers) between them it looked like a fun early afternoon break. Plus it was free entry so there was nothing to lose. Here are our thoughts on the Great Korean Beer Festival 2015;
Thoughts:
Positives (+): A wide ranges of different beers both domestic and imported.
Some interesting food options.
Some entertainment (more in the evening than the afternoon).
Easy to access and convenient location.
Plenty of seating and facilities (during the afternoon at least).
Free entry.
Negatives (-): Expensive beers (₩4000 was the cheapest and nearly all are for a 300ml cup).
Nothing for much kids, families or non-drinkers.
The beers we tried; we tried 2 beers firstly a Czech Stout (dark beer) called Merlin Cerny for ₩5000. It was enjoyable but nothing amazing and no competition to Guinness in our opinion. Secondly we tried the popular Jejustien, an orange flavored craft beer. It’s different and the hints of orange are enjoyable, but once again at ₩5000 it’s a little expensive for what it is.
In Conclusion the Great Korean Beer Festival is worth while checking out if you’re in the area and fancy a nice beer. But it’s maybe not worthwhile traveling a long way for or going to if you’re just looking to party.
