The K League Classic continues this weekend after the World Cup Qualifying / International break with it’s 37th round of games. This is the fourth game after the League Split (out of 5) and penultimate round of the season. The highlight game of this round of games is on Sunday between 3rd placed Suwon Bluewings and 2nd placed Pohang Steelers. It will be a key game in finalizing the final champions league spot.
Updated K League Classic League Table
The league was won by Jeonbuk Hyundai a few weeks ago and they’ve been top since close to the start of the season and are 9 points clear. Pohang Steelers and Suwon Bluewings are just behind them, with FA Cup winners Seoul, Seongnam and Jeju completing the top half.
Incheon are 7th (top of the Relegation Round) 1 point behind them are Ulsan Hyundai and then Jeonnam Dragons are in 9th 2 points behind them. Then come Gwangju who are 14 points ahead of 11th placed Busan and finally Daejeon who are 6 points adrift, completing the table.
Relegation Round Update: If Busan I’Park win or draw this weekend Daejeon Citizen will be relegated this weekend. If Busan lose and Daejeon win, then Daejeon will be safe for another week. However they still need to bridge the 13 goal difference gap.
K League Classic 2015 Round 37 Previews & Predictions
This round of games is evenly split between Saturday and Sunday Afternoons. Here are our brief previews and predictions of this K League Classic Round 37 round of Games;
Saturday November 21st 2015:
Jeonbuk Hyundai vs. Seongnam FC (3pm) – Championship round
2015 K League Classic champions Jeonbuk Hyundai will be able to celebrate for their victory with their home fans this Saturday. They’ve won 1 of their last 3 games. Seongnam FC haven’t won since the league split but would like to spoil the party. We see this being a tired end of season draw.
Prediction: 1 – 1
Jeju United vs. FC Seoul (4pm) – Championship Round
Jeju United will finish the season 6th regardless of any results. They’ve lost their previous 2 games but do have a solid home record this season. FA Cup Winners FC Seoul have 7 points from 9 so far since the split. Seoul will be slight favorites here.
Prediction: 1 – 2
Daejeon Citizen vs. Incheon United (2pm) – Relegation Round
Daejeon Citizen have finally woken up after a season to forget winning 2 of their last 3 games and keeping their faint K League Classic dreams alive. FA Cup Runners-Up have drawn all 3 of their games since the split. This will be close and a draw seems the likely outcome.
Prediction: 1 – 1
Sunday November 22nd 2015:
Suwon Bluewings vs. Pohang Steelers (2pm) – Championship Round
3rd placed Suwon Bluewings have picked up just a single point since the league split, but do look good for a champions league spot. 2nd placed Pohang Steelers on the other hand have 7 points from their 3 post-split games. We see Pohang edging this one on the afternoon.
Prediction: 0 – 1
Gwangju vs. Ulsan Hyundai (2pm) – Relegation Round
Gwangju and Ulsan both don’t have much to play for apart from pride in this game. Gwangju have won 1, drawn 1 and lost one since the split. Whilst Ulsan are unbeaten and have picked up 7 points. We see Ulsan edging this one.
Prediction: 1 – 3
Busan I’Park vs. Jeonnam Dragons (2pm) – Relegation Round
Busan I’Park need just a point for put to rest any slight relegation thoughts, although they will still have to win the relegation playoff. They only have a single draw to their name in recent weeks. Jeonnam picked up an overdue win last weekend and we feel they’ll continue in that vain.
Prediction: 0 – 2
