K League Classic 2016 Round 3 + Challenge Round 2 – Previews / Predictions (April 2nd – 3rd)

The K League Classic returns this weekend after the international break with the third round of games with 6 interesting matchups. The highlight match is the local derby between FC Seoul and Incheon United. Always a heated contest and a rematch of the 2015 FA Cup Final this is a stand out game and should be entertaining.

K League Classic 2016 League Table Update

After just two weeks the table doesn’t show much yet. Pohang, Seongnam, Gwangju and Jeonbuk lead the way on 4 points. With Incheon United bottom without a point to their name from the opening two games.

K League Classic 2016 Round 3 Previews & Predictions

This round of games take place on Saturday (4) and Sunday (2). All of the games take place in the afternoon. Here are our brief previews and predictions for the 3rd round of 2016 K League Classic games;

Saturday April 2nd 2016:

Suwon Bluewings vs. Sangju Sangmu (2pm)

Suwon Bluewings gave away a 2 goal lead last round to end up drawing against Jeonnam, this followed a defeat in the first round. Sangju Sangmu were humbled by Seoul last time out crashing to a 4-0 defeat, however they did beat Ulsan in the first week. You’d expect Suwon to pick up the win here as long as they’ve sured up their defense.
Prediction: 2 – 1

Seongnam FC vs. Pohang Steelers (2pm)

Seongnam have picked up 4 points from their first 2 games and sit 2nd in the table. Their win was also impressive against Suwon Bluewings. Pohang Steelers also have 4 points so far this season and sit top of table, but only on goals scored. This will be a close game and honestly we see it ending in a draw.
Prediction: 1 – 1

Jeonbuk Hyundai vs. Jeju United (2pm)

The 2014 and 2015 champions Jeonbuk have had solid start to the season with a win and a draw on their record. Jeju United beat Incheon at home before losing narrowly on the road to Gwangju. We see Jeonbuk having the edge here as they’re at home.
Prediction: 2 – 0

FC Seoul vs. Incheon United (4pm)

FC Seoul have been scoring for fun in the Champions League this season and they brought that form to the league last time out beating Sangju 4-0. Incheon United currently sit bottom of the league losing their 2 opening games. On paper this looks like a home banker for Seoul, however it’s the Gyeongin Derby and therefore a little less predictable. We’re still giving Seoul the edge.
Prediction: 2 – 1

Sunday April 3rd 2016:

Suwon City vs. Gwangju (2pm)

Suwon City have already shown that they’re ready to compete at this level picking up a couple of draws and are currently above their city rivals in the table. Gwangju picked up a credible win at home against Jeju last time out. We see Suwon maybe picking up their first win in the K League Classic.
Prediction: 1 – 0

Ulsan Hyundai vs. Jeonnam Dragons (4pm)

Ulsan Hyundai played out a solid yet boring goalless draw against reigning champions Jeonbuk, however they do look a little lacking in the attacking third. Jeonnam Dragons fought back from 2 goals down to draw against Suwon Bluewings last round and that should give them some confidence. This will be a close game and we see Jeonnam pulling off a slight shock.
Prediction: 0 – 1
