K League Classic 2016 Round 9 + Challenge Round 8 – Previews / Predictions (May 5th, 7th + 8th)

The K League Classic moves into it’s Children’s Day Ninth round of the 2016 season, spread over 3 days. All sides involved in the Champions League during the week will play at the weekend. The key game this weekend is at the bottom of the table and is between bottom side Incheon United and 2nd bottom Jeonnam Dragons. This is an early season 6 pointer.

After just over a month the table is now starting to take shape. FC Seoul sit at the top of the table 3 points clear, with Jeonbuk and Seongnam following close behind. Incheon are still at the bottom of the table, 3 points behind slipping behind the rest.

K League Classic 2016 Round 9 Previews & Predictions

This round of games take place on Children’s Day Thursday (3), Saturday (1) and Sunday (2). All of the games take place in the afternoon. Here are our brief previews and predictions for the 9th round of 2016 K League Classic games;

Thursday May 5th 2016:

Ulsan Hyundai vs. Seongnam FC (2pm)

5th placed Ulsan Hyundai won for the first time in 3 games last weekend, beating Incheon 1-0. They host 3rd placed Seongnam FC who have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 1 of their previous 5 games. However they’re better at home than away. This one will be close, however we’re giving Ulsan the slight edge.
Prediction: 1 – 0

Incheon United vs. Jeonnam Dragons (2pm)

Incheon United not for the first time are having a slow start to the season and currently haven’t won so far this season. They’re equally poor at home as away. Jeonnam Dragons were unlucky to lose last Sunday throwing away a 3-1 lead in the final minutes against Sangju. A draw seems must likely here, but the game should be entertaining.
Prediction: 2 – 2

Gwangju vs. Sangju Sangmu (4pm)

Gwangju are currently in 9th place and have been inconsistent recently with a win, draw and defeat in their last 3 games. Sangju Sangmu on the other hand have found some form recently winning two of their last 3 games. Because of this we’re siding with Sangju in this one.
Prediction: 2 – 4

Saturday May 7th 2016:

Suwon City vs. Jeju United (2pm)

In Saturdays only K League Classic game Suwon City take on Jeju United. Suwon City have only 1 win in 8 games and have lost 2 of their last 3 games. Jeju United lost last weekend on the road to Pohang, and have a poor away but strong home record this season. This will be a close one, but we see Jeju maybe edging it.
Prediction: 1 – 2

Sunday May 8th 2016:

FC Seoul vs. Pohang Steelers (2pm)

League leaders FC Seoul look to continue their strong run of form this coming Sunday afternoon. They’re unbeaten in 7 games and draw in the super match last weekend. Pohang Steelers ended a poor run of form last weekend beating Jeju, but were eliminated from the champions league during the week. FC Seoul will be heavy favorites here.
Prediction: 3 – 1

Suwon Bluewings vs. Jeonbuk Hyundai (5pm)

Suwon Bluewings host this coming weekends late game, they’ve drawn their last 5 games on the bounce including the Super Match last Saturday against FC Seoul. Reigning champions Jeonbuk Hyundai, have firmly in the title race winning 2 and drawing 3 of their last 5 league games. This one will be tight and with both sides often drawing, that seems like the likely outcome.
Prediction: 1 – 1

K League Challenge 2016 Round 8

The K League Challenge season continues this Children’s Day 2016 with Round 8 and 5 interesting matchups. Also their is a round of games taking place on Sunday (details coming soon). The highlight game of this round is between high flying playoff placed Bucheon 1995 and league leaders Ansan Mugunghwa.

K League Challenge 2016 League Table Update

The league table it starting to take shape with all sides playing at least 6 games. Ansan Mugunghwa lead the way with a 6 point gap to Gangwon, Daegu and Bucheon who make up the playoff places. With finally Gyeongnam are bottom but only due to their points deduction, 4 points behind Goyang Zaicro.
