The K League Classic continues this weekend with one of it’s final afternoon rounds of the 2016 season. The key game this weekend is the Jeolla Derby on Saturday afternoon between Jeonnam Dragons and Jeonbuk Hyundai. The sides are at opposite ends of the table but this is a derby and therefore anything could happen.
K League Classic 2016 League Table Update
After close to 2 months the table is now starting to take shape. FC Seoul sit at the top of the table 3 points clear, with Jeonbuk and Seongnam following very close behind. Winless Incheon United are still at the bottom of the table, 3 points behind slipping behind the rest.
K League Classic 2016 Round 11 Previews & Predictions
This round of games take place on Saturday (3) and Sunday (2). All of the games take place in the mid to late afternoon. FC Seoul and Jeju United don’t play this weekend. Here are our brief previews and predictions for the 11th round of 2016 K League Classic games;
Saturday May 21st 2016:
Sangju Sangmu vs. Seongnam FC (2pm)
Sangju Sangmu came back from 2 goals down to beat Incheon 4-2 last weekend, their 3rd win in 5 games. Seongnam FC were unlucky to lose against league leaders FC Seoul, but are still in the promotion picture sitting in 3rd place. This will be close and maybe high scoring, and we see Seongnam edging it.
Prediction: 1 – 3
Suwon Bluewings vs. Ulsan Hyundai (2pm)
Suwon claimed city bragging rights last weekend beating Suwon FC in the first ever Suwon Derby. It was just their second win of the season and moved them upto 7th place. Ulsan Hyundai played out a dull draw and slipped below Suwon in 8th. A close game on paper, however we see Suwon pushing on and building on last weekend with a win here.
Prediction: 2 – 1
Jeonnam Dragons vs. Jeonbuk Hyundai (3pm)
This is the first Jeolla Derby of the 2016 season, and will be played in Suncheon. Jeonnam Dragons were easily beaten last weekend 3-0 by Jeju United their 3 defeat in 5 games. They’re currently 2nd from bottom. Jeonbuk Hyundai on the other hand are in 2nd place, however they traveled to Australia during the week in the Champions League and maybe a little tired. An interesting derby game, which Jeonbuk should win.
Prediction: 0 – 2
Sunday May 22nd 2016:
Pohang Steelers vs. Suwon City FC (2pm)
Pohang are currently undefeated in 3 with 2 wins and a draw, moving them into the top half. Suwon City on the other hand have lost 4 of their last 5 league games, including last weekends Suwon Derby. On paper Pohang should have the edge.
Prediction: 2 – 1
Incheon United vs. Gwangju (4pm)
Bottom side Incheon United haven’t won in the league all season and through away a 2 goal lead last weekend to lost against Sangju Sangmu. Gwangju didn’t play last weekend, but have an improved record recently with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat from their last 4 league games. A draw seems the likely outcome, as Incheon are normally better at home.
Prediction: 1 – 1

K League Challenge 2016 Round 11
The K League Challenge season moves into round 11 this weekend, with a mixture of afternoon and evening games. The highlight game of this round is the Sunday afternoon clash between two playoff placed sides, as Daegu host Gangwon. This game will be key in the early promotion race and should be of a high standard.
K League Challenge 2016 League Table Update
The league table is super tight at the top even after 10 rounds of games, with Ansan leading the way 2 points clear of Daegu. Bucheon 1995 and Gangwon complete the playoff places both on 18 points. Gyeongnam are still bottom and are now 6 points adrift of Chungju Hummel.
