“Sugar and Me” by San E and Raina – KPOP Song of the Week

Hello and welcome to this weeks Modern Seoul KPOP Song of the Week, our third for June 2016.
There have been a few interesting new KPOP releases over the past few weeks, however we’ve chosen the duet release from rapper San E and After School member Raina. The song is titled “Sugar and Me” and it was released on YouTube Thursday June 16th, in that short time it’s been viewed around 400,000 times on the 1THEK YouTube Channel. Here are our reasons for choosing “Sugar and Me” for our KPOP song of the week:

• Firstly the song is cute, it features some nice harmonies and vocals from both San E and Raina.
• Secondly the video is simple by fun and follows a candy/sugar theme which works.
• Finally San E as been active for 8 years now and it popular for his Korean/American style. Raina is a key member of girl group After School (as well as Orange Caramel) and has been active for about the same amount of time.
• On the negative side; these two aren’t super popular these days and sadly might struggle to gain interest.
