K League Classic 2016 Round 16 Previews & Predictions

K League Classic 2016 Banner Round 16This round of games take place on Saturday (3) and Sunday (3). All of the games take place in the early evening. Here are our brief previews and predictions for the 16th round of 2016 K League Classic games;

Saturday June 25th 2016:

Suwon Bluewings vs. Jeju United (6pm)

In this weekends first game on Saturday, struggling Suwon Bluewings host 3rd placed Jeju United. Suwon won in the FA Cup during the week, their first win in over a month. Jeju United have won 4 of their last 6, but tend to be weaker away from home. The previous encounter between these two sides this season ended 2-2, and Suwon have beaten Jeju 7 of the last 10 games. Having said this we still see Jeju edging it.
Prediction: 1 – 2

Pohang Steelers vs. FC Seoul (7pm)

The second of the two Super Match sides FC Seoul travel down to the South East coast to take on Pohang Steelers. Pohang have only won once in their last 7 games, slipping into the bottom half because of it. FC Seoul won in the FA Cup during the week over Challenge Leaders Ansan Mugunghwa, their third win in their last 4. Manager Choi Yong-Soo maybe off to China (details here), but they are still in form. We see Seoul edging this one, but there maybe a few tired legs out there.
*Fun Fact: FC Seoul have only won once away vs. Pohang in the last 5 years.*
Prediction: 0 – 1

Jeonnam Dragons vs. Incheon United (7pm)

An early season relegation 6 pointer as Jeonnam Dragons take on Incheon United. Both sides progressed in the FA Cup during the week, although Incheon required extra-time to beat Daejeon. Jeonnam have won 10days ago in the league only their second win of the season. Incheon United are unbeaten in 4 league games, winning two of them. This is the 38th meeting of these sides, with 17 of them finishing in a draw. However we see Incheon edging this one.
Prediction: 0 – 2

Sunday June 26th 2016:

Seongnam FC vs. uLSAN Hyundai (7pm)

Seongnam and Ulsan Hyundai are both in the hunt for Champions League spots and maybe more at this stage of the season. Both won in the cup during the week, however Seongnam haven’t won in 4 league games. Ulsan on the other hand have won 3 of their last 4 league games. Earlier this season Seongnam won the reserve fixture 3-0, however we see this one being closer and a draw maybe the likely outcome.
Prediction: 1 – 1

Gwangju VS. Jeonbuk Hyundai (7pm)

Gwangju have the unenviable task of hosting league leaders Jeonbuk Hyundai this weekend. Gwangju haven’t won in a month and have slipped back into the bottom half. Jeonbuk Hyundai needed extra time to beat Dankook University in the cup during the week. But are undefeated in the league this season, although 7 draws from 15 games hasn’t helped extend their lead at the top of the table. Gwangju have never beaten Jeonbuk, and we doubt they will Sunday evening. A Jeonbuk 3points looks most likely.
Prediction: 1 – 3

Suwon FC VS. Sangju Sangmu (7pm)

Bottom side Suwon FC host this weekends final game as they take on army side Sangju Sangmu. Suwon have lost their last 4 games on the bounce, also failing to score in each of those games. Sangju Sangmu on the other hand have won their last 2 games. This sides draw back in April 1-1, however this time we see Sangju taking home all 3 points.
*Fun Fact: Suwon beat Sangju almost exactly a year ago 1-0, but they were both playing in the Challenge at the time*
Prediction: 2 – 3
