K League Classic 2016 Round 25 + Challenge Round 28 – Previews / Predictions (August 13th-14th)

Of course the world is currently focused on the 2016 Olympic Games taking place on the other side of the World in Brazil. But the K League Classic still continues. There are 6 interesting games this coming weekend with the Super Match between FC Seoul and Suwon Bluewings being the major highlight. FULL PREVIEW HERE.
Another key game this time at the bottom of the table as kicks off at 7pm on Saturday evening between Jeonnam Dragons and Incheon United, it maybe key in the relegation battle and although it’s not a Super Match it certainly will be interesting.

K League Classic 2016 League Table Update

As we move past the mid point of the season the league table has taken shape. Jeonbuk now have a 12 point lead at the top over FC Seoul. With Seongnam FC 6 points behind them in 3rd. There are only 9 points separating 3rd and 10th, so the whole table is still very tight.
At the other end of the table, Suwon FC are still bottom, and now only 5 points point behind Incheon United in 11th.

This round of games take place evenly on Saturday (3) and Sunday (3). Also all of the games take place in the early evening at 7pm. Here are our brief previews and predictions for the 25th round of 2016 K League Classic games;

Saturday August 13th 2016:

Jeonnam Dragons vs. Incheon United (7pm)

The first game on Saturday evening features two sides at the bottom of the table who’ll be looking for a win to escape the relegation battle. 10th placed Jeonnam Dragons have 3 wins from their last 5 games, but did lose during the week. Incheon United have only 1 win from their last 5, but did beat Jeonnam away almost exactly a year ago (2-0). Jeonnam will be favorites to pick up the 3 points.

Prediction: 1 – 0

Sangju Sangmu vs. Seongnam FC (7pm)

Moving into the top half with 2 sides looking to kickstart their summer. Sangju Sangmu have dropped down to 5th place, with 3 defeats but 2 wins from their last 5 games. Seongnam won during the week for the first time in 5 games, pushing them up to 3rd place. Seongnam are generally better away than at home, and one this same fixture back in May 3-2. This will be close, but we’re siding with Seongnam to nick it.

Sunday August 14th 2016:

Jeju United vs. Gwangju (7pm)

A couple of mid-table sides lineup for the first of Sundays games. 6th placed Jeju United have won 2 of their last 3, both at home. They host 8th placed Gwangju who are 5 points behind them with only 2 wins from their last 14 games. Jeju beat Gwangju 3-2 back in June and we see them winning again on Sunday.

Prediction: 3 – 1

Pohang Steelers vs. Jeonbuk Hyundai (7pm)

The second of Sundays games features 7th placed Pohang Steelers and league leaders Jeonbuk Hyundai. Pohang have lost 5 of their last 6, including a 3-0 defeat to Jeonbuk. Jeonbuk are still undefeated in the league this season, however they are weaker away from home. Jeonbuk will be favorites on paper, but we see it being closer than last time.

Prediction: 0 – 1

Suwon FC vs. Ulsan Hyundai (7pm)

In the final game of the weekend bottom club Suwon FC take on 4th placed Ulsan Hyundai. Suwon won twice last month but are still 5 points adrift at the bottom. Ulsan have now gone 5 games without a win. The two games between these sides ended Ulsan 1-0 and a 1-1 draw. Ulsan will be slight favorites on paper, but we see it ending in a draw.

K League Challenge 2016 Round 28

The K League Challenge season still has a fair way to go and it’s always wide open due to the playoff places. One of the standout games of the weekend is the clash between former Classic side Busan I’Park and league leaders Ansan Mugunghwa. Ansan will be looking to extend their 10point lead at the top of the table, whilst Busan will be looking to try and make a late and unlikely run for a playoff place.

K League Challenge 2016 League Table Update

The league table has finally taken shape and Ansan Mugunghwa currently lead the way with a 10 point lead over Gangwon in 2nd. Daegu and Bucheon 1995 complete the playoff places. At the other end of the table, Goyang and Chungju are both slipping away from the rest.
