K League Classic 2016 Round 27 August 20th-21st

A slightly smaller than usual round this weekend, as the games involving Champions League sides Jeonbuk & Seoul were played a few weeks ago. This week therefore focuses more on the mid-table and relegation battles. The highlight game of the weekend is between 2 sides on the edge of the relegation zone Suwon Bluewings and Jeonnam Dragons. It is one of those 6-pointers that neither side can afford to lose.

Jeonnam Dragons has 3 wins from their last 5, but lost on Wednesday 4-1 at home against FC Seoul. This is an important relegation battle 6 pointer and therefore we see it being tight and a draw.
*Fun Fact: Jeonnam last beat Suwon away in the league back in May 2011.*
Prediction: 1 – 1

Pohang Steelers vs. Sangju Sangmu (7pm)

The second of Saturdays games features Pohang Steelers and high flying Sangju Sangmu. Pohang haven’t won in 4 games since beating Incheon around a month ago. Sangju Sangmu beat Ulsan during the week moving them up to 3rd place. Sangju won both of this seasons previous encounters 2-0. That being said we see this being close and Sangju making it 3 from 3.
*Fun Fact: These sides haven’t drawn since 2010.*
Prediction: 1 – 2

Sunday August 21st 2016:

Incheon United vs. Jeju United (6pm)

Sundays earlier kick off is a battle between the leagues two Uniteds, as Incheon host Jeju. Incheon United haven’t won in 5 and lost during the week against league leaders Jeonbuk Hyundai. Jeju United have been inconsistent recently with 2 wins and 3 defeats from their last 5 games. This is a rubber match as each side has a win apiece so far this season. This will be close, but we’re siding with the home side Incheon.
*Fun Fact: Jeju last beat Incheon away over 6 years ago, Kim Eun-Jung with a last minute goal.*
Prediction: 2 – 1

Gwangju vs. Suwon FC (7pm)

The last game of the weekend features two of the league smaller clubs 6th placed Gwangju and bottom side Suwon FC. Gwangju have won their last 2 games, and their only recent loss came against league leaders Jeonbuk. Suwon have won 3 and lost 3 of their last 6 games, and are currently only 2 points away from 11 placed Incheon. Its honors even so far this season with 1 win each. A tricky game to call but we see Gwangju and Jung Jo-Gook winning it.
