At 7.44pm this evening (Monday September 12th 2016) an earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale has hit the South Eastern City of Gyeongju (경주시). Early reports are of good with it being natural (nothing nuclear) and no injuries or major damage (yet). However messaging service KakaoTalk was offline / down due to it for almost an hour.
Also a noticeable 2nd earthquake measuring a reported 5.8 on the Richter scale hit around 8.30pm, and was felt in up in Suwon, Seoul and Incheon.
This was the largest Earthquake to hit South Korea in over 40 years and unlike our East Asian Neighbors Earthquakes are uncommon here.
September 19th Earthquake; Another Earthquake hit close to Gwangju measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale. Felt in Busan and other cities by no major damage reported.
