Week 2 Day 2 of the Champions League serves as a warmup before the new K League season starts this coming weekend. It wasn’t a good start for the K League sides last week so fingers crossed Tuesday and Wednesday provide a little more luck.
Wednesday evenings games feature a trip to Japan for Jeju United, whilst Suwon Bluewings host Chinese giants Guangzhou Evergrande.

AFC Champions League Previews and Predictions (Wednesday March 1st 2017)
Here are our brief previews for Wednesday evenings AFC Champions League games featuring K League sides as well as head-to-head (H2H) records and predictions;
Suwon Bluewings vs. Guangzhou Evergrande @ 7pm
The first game of the evening takes place in Group G and is between Suwon Bluewings and Chinese Super League Giants Guangzhou Evergrande. Suwon Bluewings qualified by winning the Korean FA Cup, which was the only positive from an awful 2016 season. They drew their opening game of group G away to Kawasaki 1-1. Guangzhou Evergrande are the reigning Chinese Super League Champions, and started the Champions League in impressive fashion hammering Hong Kong side Eastern 7-0 last week.
Head-to-Head / H2H:
They have played each other once before in a friendly in 2015. Suwon won that game 2-0.
1 – 2
Guangzhou will start as favorites following last weeks performances and overall squads. Suwon have home field advantage so it will be close.
Gamba Osaka vs. Jeju United @7pm
The second game of the evening comes from the Suita City Football Stadium and is in Group H. The game is between J-League side Gamba Osaka and Jeju United (3rd placed in the 2016 K League) playing in only their 2nd ever Champions League Campaign. Gamba Osaka finished 4th in last seasons J-League. They beat Adelaide United 3-0 last week as well as drawing in the league at the weekend 1-1. Jeju United were solid all last season and were rewarded with a Champions League spot, they lost a close game last week 1-0 to Jiangsu Suning.
Head-to-Head / H2H:
They played each other twice before in the 2011 Champions League. Osaka won at home 3-1, whilst Jeju won at home 2-1.
2 – 0
Gamba Osaka looked strong on the road last week and sadly should have the edge over Jeju at home.
