This coming Sunday in the K League Classic is a little more relaxing and focused then Saturday, with only 2 games.

This season we’re going to the covering each match day separately (last few seasons it’s been each round). Making the posts a little shorter and focused on a day. Also goal updates, replays and more via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

K League Classic 2017 League Table Update

Firstly this doesn’t include Saturday’s results. So following just a single game the league table doesn’t reflect a probable final table, but it does make of nice viewing for a few sides. Gangwon, Jeonbuk, Ulsan, Gwangju and Jeju lead the way all winning their opening games. FC Seoul and Suwon Bluewings make up the mid-table. Whilst Jeonnam, Pohang, Sangju, Daegu and finally Incheon comprise the bottom 5.

K League Classic 2017 Previews & Predictions (Sunday March 12th – Round 2)

Moving onto the football, here are our brief previews and predictions for this Sundays 2 games;

Jeonnam Dragons vs. Sangju Sangmu @ 3pm

The first of Sundays games comes from the Gwangyang Stadium home of Jeonnam Dragons. Jeonnam had a disappointing start to the season losing the Jeolla Derby against Jeonbuk Hyundai in the dying moments 2-1. Sangju Sangmu also lost 2-1 in the first game of the season at home to recently promoted Gangwon. Although on paper they seem to have stronger squad than last season it’s still gelling. Last Time; Jeonnam won 1-0 back in October, overall the head-to-head shows a huge advantage to Jeonnam winning 21 of the previous 35 encounters.
Prediction: 3 – 2
This is a risky prediction, but we’re hoping for a good game. At the least we feel Jeonnam will edge this one.
+Game of Day+ This is our highlight game of the day and therefore we’ll be covering it in extra detail via our Twitter Page.

Pohang Steelers vs. Gwangju @ 3pm

The second game of the day comes from the Steelyard. Pohang Steelers lost last weekend in the South East Coast derby against Ulsan 2-1. They looked a little towards the end of the game, maybe lacking match fitness. Gwangju recorded a win over Daegu in their opening game 1-0. The game was a little dull and didn’t gave away much about the 2017 Gwangju side. Last Time; 1-1 draw in November, however Pohang have never lost to Gwangju in the League.
Prediction: 1 – 0
Pohang have an excellent record vs. Gwangju and we see them winning this one. However it might not be a classic.

k_league_challenge

Of course it’s easy to over look this Sundays K League Challenge action. But it features a number of interesting matchups and the first ever game for Asan Mugunghwa since moving down from Ansan.

K League Challenge 2017 League Table Update

The league table after just a single game as Ansan Greeners leading the way, level on points with Bucheon, Suwon FC, Busan I’Park and Gyeongnam. 5 sides are pointless after last weekend FC Anyang, Daejeon Citizen, Seoul E-Land, Asan Mugunghwa and finally Seongnam FC. This could easily flipped around after this weekends round of games.

2017 Structure Update: This season the number of teams has dropped down to an even 10 sides. Just like in previous seasons teams will play each other 4 times with the winner gaining automatic promotion to the K League Classic. The next 3 sides enter the Promotion playoffs, and finally once again there is no relegation down to the National League.

K League Challenge 2017 Previews & Predictions (Saturday March 12th – Round 2)

Here are our brief previews and predictions for this Sundays 3 games;

Seoul E-Land vs. Gyeongnam @ 3pm

The first game in this Sunday’s K League Challenge coming from the Seoul Olympic Stadium. Seoul E-Land suffered defeat in their opening game on the road to Bucheon 2-1, but they did create more chances. Gyeongnam recorded a solid 1-0 win over Police side Asan Mugunghwa. They seemed well organized at the back. Last Time; Seoul won 2-0 back in October.
Prediction: 2 – 1
Seoul E-Land have a good record against Gyeongnam, and we see them edging this one.

Daejeon Citizen vs. Seongnam FC @ 3pm

The second of Sundays games is the first home game of the season for Daejeon Citizen. Daejeon lost their opening game on the road to newly created Ansan Greeners, but they looked solid for 90% of the game. Seongnam FC also lost their first game of the season against Busan I’Park, they sadly looked a little disjointed and lacking some match sharpness (like much of the league). Last Time; Seongnam won 2-0 back in 2015 and histrionically Seongnam have the advantage with 26 wins in 39 games.
Prediction: 1 – 1
Two sides that are evenly matched and might be happier drawing than risking another defeat.

Suwon FC vs. Bucheon 1995 @ 5pm

The final Challenge game of the week features two well supported “Citizen” clubs. Recently relegated Suwon have come a long way in the past couple of seasons and recorded an opening day win on the road against local rivals FC Anyang 2-1. Bucheon 1995 also won 2-1 on the open day beating Seoul E-Land in Bucheon. Last Time; It ended 0-0 back in November 2015.
Prediction: 3 – 1
Suwon FC at home last season had good support and we think they’ll edge this one on Sunday.
+Game of Day+ This is our highlight game of the day and therefore we’ll be covering it in extra detail via our Twitter Page.
