The new K League season is now underway, but focus turns back to the ACL and third round of games in the AFC Champions League group stages. It has been a mixed start for the K League sides so far, but they’re all still in contention.
Tuesday evenings games feature a trip to Hong Kong in the form of Eastern SC for Suwon Bluewings, whilst Ulsan Hyundai host Thai Premier League side Muangthong United.

AFC Champions League 2017 Group Tables Update
After 2 games this is how Group E currently stands. It’s still very even with the top 3 seperated by a single point. K League side Ulsan Hyundai are currently 3rd, whilst Thai side Muangthong United top the group.
Here is how Group G looks after 2 games. Suwon Bluewings are current in 2nd place after drawing their opening 2 games. Hong Kong side Eastern SC are currently bottom with a single point.
AFC Champions League Previews and Predictions (Tuesday February 28th 2017)
Here are our brief previews for Tuesday evenings AFC Champions League games featuring K League sides as well as head-to-head (H2H) records and predictions;
Ulsan Hyundai vs. Muangthong United @ 7.30pm
The first game of the evening comes from the Munsu Cup Stadium (Ulsan) and takes place in Group E. It’s between K League side Ulsan Hyundai and Thai League side Muangthong United. Ulsan finished 4th in the K League and reached the group stages via the playoffs, Muangthong won the 2016 Thai League. Ulsan lost week 1 vs. Kashima Antlers 2-0, but found some form to hammer Brisbane Roar week 2. They lost at the weekend in the league 3-0 away to Jeju. Muangthong United drew with Brisbane then beat Kashima.
Head-to-Head / H2H:
They have never played before in a competitive match.
Prediction:
1 – 0
Ulsan will be slight favorites on recent form and playing at home.
Eastern SC vs. Suwon Bluewings @ 9pm (Korea Time)
The late game of the evening comes from the xx and is in Group G. The game is between Korean FA winners Suwon Bluewings and Hong Kong Premier League Champions Eastern SC. Suwon have drawn their opening 2 games in the champions league and have only 1 point from two league games so far this season. Eastern SC had a rough introduction into the Champions League being hammered 8-0 but Chinese rivals Guangzhou Evergrande. However they recovered in the second week to draw against J-League side Kawasaki. They are currently top of the Hong Kong Premier League after 14 games, but lost last Friday in the cup.
Head-to-Head / H2H:
They’ve never played each other before.
Prediction:
1 – 3
In order advance past the group stages this is a must win game for Suwon. Suwon have the advantage squad wise, but Eastern at home have already shown they’re a tricky side to beat.
AFC Champions League Results & Highlights
Ulsan Hyundai 0 – 0 Muangthong United
Ulsan and Muangthong played out a dull and pretty boring draw. The attendance of 1327 didn’t matters.
Eastern SC 0 – 1 Suwon Bluewings
Johnathon scored the only goal of the evening as Suwon labored to an unimpressive victory.
