K League Challenge 2017 League Table Update

The league table after just a three games has Suwon FC leading the way, just ahead of Busan I’Park and Gyeongnam. Two sides sit on 6 points Asan Mugunghwa and Ansan Greeners. Daejeon Citizen and Bucheon 1995 are just behind them. Whilst Seongnam FC, Seoul E-Land and FC Anyang are at the bottom of the table at this early stage.

2017 Structure Update: This season the number of teams has dropped down to an even 10 sides. Just like in previous seasons teams will play each other 4 times with the winner gaining automatic promotion to the K League Classic. The next 3 sides enter the Promotion playoffs, and finally once again there is no relegation down to the National League.

K League Challenge 2017 Previews & Predictions (Saturday March 25th – Round 4)

Here are brief previews and predictions for this Saturday’s K League Challenge games;

Bucheon 1995 vs. Busan I’Park @ 3pm

The first game in the Challenge this Saturday afternoon comes from the Bucheon Stadium, and is between Bucheon 1995 and Busan I’Park. Both sides featured in the playoffs last season. Bucheon 1995 won their opening game but have lost twice since then and have looked lacking in a few areas. Busan are still unbeaten, with 7 points from their opening two games. The question is “can Busan travel?”
Prediction: 1 – 1
This looks like a draw, but we wouldn’t be surprised if either side won.

FC Anyang vs. Seongnam FC @ 3pm

This Saturdays second game features two sides who’ve had poor starts to their seasons so far, FC Anyang and Seongnam FC. FC Anyang have lost 3 games straight conceding 7 goals and scoring just once. Seongnam picked up a point week 2 but have lost their other games.
Prediction: 0 2
If you compare the squads Seongnam should win this one, but both sides are lacking confidence so it might be a slow starting game.

Here are brief previews and predictions for this Sunday’s K League Challenge games;

Seoul E-Land vs. Ansan Greeners @ 3pm

The first game in the Challenge this Sunday afternoon comes from the Seoul Olympic Stadium, and features Seoul E-Land and Ansan Greeners. The only 2 sides to join the Challenge since it’s creation. Seoul have had an awful start to the season losing all 3 of their games so far. Ansan on the other hand have surprised many with their bright start winning 2 of their 3.
Prediction: 2 – 2
Close game paper, if Seoul wake up they could win, but Ansan are the form side. So we’re siding with an entertaining score draw.

Gyeongnam vs. Daejeon Citizen @ 3pm

The second game comes from the Changwon Football Center and is between Gyeongnam and Daejeon. Gyeongnam are unbeaten in 2017 with 2 wins and a draw so far. They also have one of the tightest defenses in the league. Daejeon have been improving week-on-week and won last weekend against Seoul E-Land.
Prediction: 1 0
Another close game on paper, but we’re siding with the inform home side Gyeongnam.

Suwon FC vs. Asan Mugunghwa @ 3pm (Previously listed as Saturday)

The 3rd and final Saturday game comes from Suwon and features the two standout sides so far this season, Suwon FC and Asan Mugunghwa. Suwon FC have adapted to life back in the Challenge impressively winning their opening 3 games. Including a win over Seongnam last weekend. Asan Mugunghwa lost the opening weekend but have won both of their games since. Scoring 6 goals in the process.
Prediction: 2 – 1
