The K League Classic continues with an interesting looking Super Sunday (fingers crossed it better than last weekends Shocking Saturday). All of the ACL teams are in action with the clash between Ulsan Hyundai and FC Seoul standing out.

A quick reminder that this season we’re going to the covering each match day separately (the last few seasons it’s been each round). Making the posts a little shorter and focused on a day. Video Highlights, Goal Updates and more via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

K League Classic 2017 League Table Update

Of course following just 5 games the league table doesn’t reflect a probable final table yet. Jeju lead the way along with Jeonbuk level on 11 points. Seoul Pohang, Sangju and Seoul then all follow on 7 points. Ulsan complete the top half with 6 points. Gangwon down to Suwon Bluewings are all separated by a single point. Finally Jeonnam are bottom and still currently pointless.

K League Classic 2017 Previews & Predictions (Sunday April 16th – Round 6)

Moving onto the football, here are our brief previews and predictions for this Sundays 4 games;

Jeonbuk Hyundai vs. Sangju Sangmu @ 3pm

The first 3 o’clock kick off on Sunday comes from the Jeonju Civil Stadium the short-term home of Jeonbuk Hyundai. Jeonbuk have won 3 and drawn two of their opening 5 games, but have looked a little short in front of goal. Sangju Sangmu are currently up in 4th place after 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat. They also lack goals. Last Time: Jeonbuk won 4-1 last November.
Prediction: 1 – 0
Both sides have had strong starts to the season, however neither is scoring for fun yet. So we see this as a narrow win for Jeonbuk.

Jeju United vs. Gangwon @ 3pm

The Second game of the day comes from Seogwipo, as Jeju United host Gangwon for the first time this season. Top of the league Jeju United won their opening 3 games, but have drawn twice in recent weeks. 1 goal conceded in 5 game is impressive. Gangwon haven’t won since the opening game of the season, but have at least picked up a couple of draws. Last Time: Gangwon won 3-0 back in 2013.
Prediction: 2 – 0
This is Jeju’s game to lose, based on form.

Suwon Bluewings vs. Gwangju @ 3pm

The next game comes from the Suwon “Big Bird” World Cup Stadium, where Suwon Bluewings host Gwangju. Suwon Bluewings have been poor in the league so far this season drawing 4 times and losing the other. However they won 5-0 in the ACL during the week, so this maybe a turning point. Gwangju haven’t won since the opening weekend and are only a point ahead of Suwon. Last Time; It ended 1-1 last November.
Prediction: 2 – 1
Suwon will be favorites to pick up their first win of the season. However tired legs maybe a factor.

Ulsan Hyundai vs. FC Seoul @ 3pm

The final game of the day is also our featured game and comes from the Ulsan Munsu Cup Stadium. Ulsan Hyundai host FC Seoul. Ulsan Hyundai are currently in 6th place and have had a mixed league season w2, d1, l2. FC Seoul also have struggled to balance league and champions league recently, w2, d2, l1. Last Time: FC Seoul won 2-0 last October.
Prediction: 2 – 2
Tight game on paper and with both sides traveling to different areas of the world during the week tired legs will be a factor. Therefore we see an open game with goals and squad rotation.

K League Challenge 2017 Previews & Predictions (Sunday April 16th – Round 7)

Here are brief previews and predictions for this Sunday’s K League Challenge games;

Seongnam FC vs. Gyeongnam @ 3pm

The opening game of the day is a top vs. bottom clash between Seongnam FC and Gyeongnam. Seongnam FC are having a nightmare start to life in the Challenge having lost 4 and drawn 2 of their opening 6 games. Gyeongnam on the other hand have been a surprisingly strong start to the 2017 season winning 4 and drawing 2.
Prediction: 1 – 2
Gyeongnam’s tight defence vs. Seongnam’s absent attack, means the we see Gyeongnam winning. However Seongnam might at least get a goal.

FC Anyang vs. Seoul E-Land @ 3pm

This Sundays final game is also our featured games and it between 7th placed FC Anyang and 9th placed Seoul E-Land. FC Anyang won a couple of games to move them a little up the table, but they lost last weekend. Seoul E-Land have won 1 and drawn 1 of their opening 6 and basically lack goals.
Prediction: 2 1
Neither side has impressed much this season, however FC Anyang have shown more than Seoul E-Land.
