Labor Day, Labour Day, May Day or 근로자의 날 in South Korea every year falls on May 1st. It’s been celebrated since the 1960’s, however unlike other nations nothing much happens. One reason for this is that Children’s Day and Buddha’s Birthday both already fall in May. Also it’s not a National Holiday so only certain businesses take the day off, it does seem to be optional at the moment.

Banks and Government offices maybe be closed; but other businesses, public transportation, shops and other services will generally run as normal.
