K League Classic 2017 Previews & Predictions (Saturday August 19th – Round 27)

Moving onto the days action, here are our brief previews and predictions for this Saturdays 4 games;

Jeju United vs. Jeonnam Dragons @ 7pm

The first game of the day comes from the holiday island of Jeju. With Jeju United hosting Jeonnam Dragons. Jeju United have won 4 of their last 5, drawing the other game. This form has pushed them back into the champions league/championship race. Jeonnam have picked up 5 points from 3, but are still in danger of being sucked back into the relegation battle.
Prediction:  2 – 1
Jeju will be favorites to edge this one.

Suwon Bluewings vs. Gangwon @ 7pm

The second game of the day is a top half clash from the Suwon “Big Bird” World Cup Stadium. It’s between Suwon Bluewings and Gangwon. Suwon were dealt a huge blow earlier in the week as top goalscorer Johnathan was ruled out for 2 month due to injury. Their recent form has been strong 3 wins from 5, but he’s been key. Gangwon have only 1 win from their last 5 games, and this week parted with their manager.
Prediction:  2 – 0
Even without Johnathan we see Suwon winning this one.

FC Seoul vs. Ulsan Hyundai @ 7pm

The third game on Saturday evening features 5th placed and ever dangerous FC Seoul and 2nd placed Ulsan Hyundai. FC Seoul have 3 wins from 5 and took the 3-points last weekend in the Super Match against Suwon Bluewings. Ulsan can be hard to beat, but have 2 wins and 3 draws from their last 5. So they are losing ground on league leaders Jeonbuk Hyundai.
Prediction:  1 – 1
Close game on paper, and we see FC Seoul dominating but they game ending in a draw.

Jeonbuk Hyundai vs. Gwangju @ 7pm

The final game on Saturday is top vs. bottom as Jeonbuk Hyundai host Gwangju. Jeonbuk are 4 points clear at the top but have dropped points recently. They are the leagues highest scorers with veteran forward Edu finding form this summer. Gwangju have lost 3 on the bounce and are 4 points adrift at the bottom. Northern Irish winger Niall McGinn is still looking for his first goal for the club. Gwangju also lost their manager during the week.
Prediction:  3 – 1
Jeonbuk will be obvious favorites to win this one.

The an 8 point gap to Asan Mugunghwa and Bucheon 1995 who currently fill the other playoff places. Seongnam FC, Suwon and FC Anyang are close behind. Then there’s a gap to Ansan, Seoul E-Land and Daejeon Citizen who all look too far away from the playoff places now.

K League Challenge 2017 Predictions (Saturday August 19th – Round 25)

Here are predictions for this Saturday’s K League Challenge games:

Bucheon 1995 vs. Gyeongnam @ 7pm

Prediction: 0 – 2
Bucheon looked awful last weekend and were easily beaten by bottom side Seoul. So therefore we’re siding with the run-away leaders Gyeongnam.

FC Anyang vs. Seongnam FC @ 7pm

Prediction: 1 – 2
Big game for two sides just below the playoff places. We see Seongnam bouncing back and picking up a vital 3 points.

Busan I’Park vs. Ansan Greeners @ 7pm

Prediction: 2 – 1
Despite Ansan looking much improved last weekend hammering Suwon, they are generally weak away and Busan should have the edge here.
