Just for fun what if K League 1 were English Premier League clubs? Who would they be?
For this post I’ll be using the current 2018 K League 1 clubs & the 2017/18 Premier league clubs. Based on status, support base, history and personal opinion based on 9 years following the K League and much longer the premier league. I’ll try and explain my decision in a sentence (or two).

– To point out this is my personal opinion, please feel free to comment below if you feel differently –

What If K League 1 clubs were English Premier League clubs?

Jeonbuk Hyundai = Manchester City

The biggest club in the league in terms of money and sometimes unbeatable.

FC Seoul = Manchester United

A team with the history and fan base, but at the moment have fallen on hard times.

Suwon Bluewings = Chelsea FC

At one point both Samsung sponsored and play in Blue. But big successful sides as well.

Jeju United = Newcastle United

Based a little out of the way, but a strong history.

Ulsan Hyundai = Everton FC

Sometimes punch above their weight, but for some reason you want them to succeed.

Pohang Steelers = Liverpool FC

A tight intimate stadium with a loyal fanbase.

Gangwon FC = Leicester City

They have deep pockets and a nice stadium (Gangwon last season), but lack the cutting edge these days (more Leicester).

Gyeongnam FC = Burnley FC

Based in the working class city and somehow holding their own in the top division.

Jeonnam Dragons = Southampton

Southern club who’ve been a constant mid-table side for years, but recently have dropped into the danger zone.

Incheon United = Swansea City

A beautiful stadium but no money. Yet still somehow survive year in year out.

Sangju Sangmu = Stoke City

Good players one season, but next they are gone.

Daegu FC = West Brom

Often saved by an unexpected manager, but this season it looks like the money isn’t there.
